17 weeks and still counting

The total number of weeks my FN2 has now been in 2 dealerships for work is now upto 17 weeks (over 4 months - I did a recount, I got the 13 weeks wrong last post) since Jan.

Would really appreciate if anyone has any contacts they know of within the Honda Group? I've pretty much given up with the dealers in question and customer services.

That is terrible. What is the problem or is it more than one?

That is quite amazing! What's wrong with it?

Have you tried HUK customer service? I know some say they are useless but you never know

A number of things, total new gearbox, a rear end which goes out of alignment (about 6 or 7 attempts to fix), new fog lights, new rear lights, replacement lights which the dealership damaged when fiitting, 2 weeks in the spray shop respraying the paintwork the dealership damaged, 6 or 7 attempts to fix a dashboard rattle. latest is they are going to reseal the front windscreen. Interior scratches on delivery, the dealership put oil marks all over the front mats, they have also been caught out lieng about the work they have done and Honda Techs revisiting their site. I also have a lovely picture where the dealership stuffed the tailgate panel with screwed up paper to widen the panel out, all done courtesy of a well known autorised Honda dealer.

Oh Goodness me that is terrible. I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. Have you considered legal action?

Maybe it is time to 'name n shame' the dealer here: Dealership feedback - Civinfo Wiki

I really hope you get something sorted sooner rather than later.

I am speaking with their after sales director Monday, was also told yesterday by the dealership, if I wanted a problem free car I should consider go spending £40/50k on a hand built car and that Civics are mass produced and you alway get problems. They seem to imply that the amount of time worked on the car to date was normal for a 'Mass' produced car, I think there just towing the company line.

I would consider that car not fit for purpose and I would be requesting a refund or replacement. With the amount of time it's been off the road I don't think they have a leg to stand on.

All companies produce the odd lemon and you seem to have one of them.

I bet HUK would be interested about the dealers comments on their build quality, that should go down well.

That is total rubbish
The dealer induced problems alone are enough!
What have Honda said?
You need to name and shame this dealer
Good luck

You dealers attitude is disgusting, to actually say that to you after the problems you have had is totally out of order.

You should name and shame them as Happyman says.

I found it a bit insulting after I paid 22k for the car including extras, HUK have not said a thing, even though they have copies of the letters with 4 or 5 pages of pictures. My stand on Monday will be enough is enough either a replacement or refund and until they make a decision I will be keeping their courtesy car and will not be collecting mine from the dealership.

Phil how long have you had the car? I do think that due to all this they should be giving you a replacement car. I've seen that happen with BMW, VW & even one memeber on here had a new replacement Type R after the hassles he was having. I usually call the number for customer relations that is used by the dealer. Do you have that number? If not would you like it to contact them?

They are the only ones who have ever been able to sort any issues I've had. The folk in the quoted customer service center don't really know anything unless its in written format from Honda UK and still then some struggle

I would not do this, tempting as it may sound - it amounts to theft and they could legitimately involve the police if you don't return something that belongs to them if they ask for it.

You're within your rights to reject the car - I cannot see anyone, anywhere being able to argue that you have not given the dealership a chance to remedy the myriad number of faults on the vehicle.

I would suggest you seek professional advice about how to formally reject the car. I believe you have to write to the dealership and set out all the problems and attempts they have had to fix it. State at the end you 'do not consider the vehicle is of merchantable quality and is clearly unfit for the purpose for which it was bought.'. Go on to say that you are rejecting the car under the Sale of Goods Act and that you expect a full refund of the purchase price paid.

You may end up having to go to court over this which could prove expensive; it sounds to me like the dealer is less than scrupulous. For this reason I suggest you do get some professional advice - it would be money well spent as you will see all your options.

There would be no harm in copying your rejection letter to the head of Honda UK - don't bother with Customer Services; ignore the monkey and speak to the organ grinder.

Why do not take this issue to the court if there are not understanding ?

I think you may obtain some things, including some money for your wasting time.
