Strange Clutch Feeling

Hi all.

I was driving this morning when suddenly I noticed that the clutch felt very strange - most noticeable when letting the clutch up. It was like a 'buzzing' feeling through your foot, kind on like it was catching on something. It felt fine when the engine was off.

Then after 2-3 miles it disappeared.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Is it something to worry about? Could it be connected to the 3rd gear synchro fix I had done on Wednesday?

Hi there, sounds like the clutch master cylinder head.My car is actually in the dealers this morning for warranty replacement and handbrake recall.
This a well known fault and my dealers have actually run out of replacements and are currently on a 2 week list.
Does the pedal feel as if it is clicking both on down and up travel ?
Hope this helps

Thanks for the response.

I'll keep a close eye on it over the next few days. Didn't notice any 'clicking', but it did feel strange on both down and up travel.

I've had more issues with this Civic (FN2) in 6 months than I had in 4 years on my previous Civic (EP3). Loosing faith in Honda rapidly

Correction : The clutch does make a clicking noise (both up and down travel) when the engine is off. Is this the norm?

I had the same problem with my wifes 1.8se. The master cylinder needs replacing. I,ts located just above the pedal box inside the cabin. Make sure when they change it they replace the large bulkhead grommet properly. This grommet holds the feed pipe from the master cylinder. My one was about 3 inches from where it should have been, letting in loads of engine noise into the cabin.

Just got my clutch master cyliner changed as well. Funnily enough my old Accord had the same problem and that car was 2003. If there's a waiting list it must be a very common fault. Why the hell is it still such an issue?

I had the same problem with my clutch, my local dealer took the car in replaced the clutch master cylinder and all was fine for about 3 months, now it has started again.
So when I took it back to have the handbrake recall done I mentioned about the clutch problem, they said they would check it out.
On collecting my car they told me they would have to have the car back in to strip the master cylinder down and clean it, ("on advice from Honda tech") if the new master cylinder was meant to cure the problem why now do they have to strip the replacement out and clean it I will say it is about 2 weeks between them saying this and being able to take the car back in, I wonder if there is still a supply problem with master clutch cylinders

Got similar problem now. Had my car in for the handbrake recall and pointed out that my clutch pedal felt squeeky and creaky. Dealer lubricated the clutch. No difference what so ever.

Also had window problem which the delar went and "fixed" the wrong side. Windong down the window I get a screeching noise.

Then with all this rain I had a new problem on return home from work. The door was full of water ! - pulled one of the bungs at the bottom and the watre came gushing out.

My clutch is still a problem too...it goes away for a while and comes back out of the blue. I'll mention it at the service but I dont hold out much hope. It sounds like its the master clutch cylinder at fault.
