Also is it fair that Honda supply bad cars to those who pay ££££££ for them, i don’t think it is. NAME AND SHAME……….its not the stealers fault, its HUK and they need a kick up the backside to sort it.
Sorry Doctor Vodka but you cannot go around making such bold statements such as "all stealers are saying "never heard of that before" They must have" when there is a very small percentage of civic owners on this forum. most of whom seem to be happy give or take a couple of small issues

I have to say that our dealer has as usual been superb - had the same dealer for the past 4 years and any issues or queries have always been dealt with to our complete satisfaction - which would seem to be the same case for most Honda owners

Certainly never had an issue with the alarms or any real issues at all in any of our Honda's including our current two cars

I can understand your frustration in having some problems and perhaps your dealer not being the most helpful. I hope you get everything sorted out to your satisfaction

Hmmmmmm…… glad you have a helpful stealer, most don’t or that’s the general feeling on here. As stated before, no beef with the stealers they don’t put the car together. Its HUK that should take note of this problem and inform customers so that their cars have a security system that works. Nearly 2 weeks since I rang HUK no feed back from them, no phone call back, nothing. Name and same ……….
Bold statements are all the rage this summer, you should want to try one

My complaint is that HUK do know about this problem and have known since early this year and the least they could do is double check new cars . But what really pisses me off is the denial !!!!

This is what annoys me. Sure anyone can make a faulty batch but my faulty alarm was reported to HUK by me in March. Because I was getting no where with my dealer it was HUK that contacted the dealer service manager for me and agreed with them to take parts out of a working car to get it sorted. HUK knew all about faulty alarms at least 4 months ago.

Now it may be that HUK have a high churn on staff but surely they keep a database showing new staff the existing faults they have had escalated to them.

It is all very well Dan saying that Ford and other makes are just as bad. I bought a Honda because I wanted a better built car NOT the same quality as all the other makes. I had a Ford previously and it only ever saw the dealer once a year for its service so in my case Honda is a below standard quality car.

I had this problem with my civic 2 years ago. Just flashing lights and no siren. Dealer replaced the siren, but it still didn't work. As I recall it was a wiring fault. Certainly it was O K after second visit. 2006 ES

Funny enough last week i was sat in the car and took the keys out & locked the door, anyway the indicators went off but no sound, so i guess mines is knackered too .

I didnt think twice about not hearing a sound as i thought the alarm was an optional extra as Honda is quite good at making everything optional at a cost. Will test it tomorow. Bit late at night to be testing just now.

Took my car in saturday morning regarding the alarm, confirmed alarm was not working!!! and are ordering parts and want my car for TWO days to fix it?

Was told it takes two hours to fully diagnose the alarm faults?

NOT VERY HAPPY at the moment, waiting for my dealer to ring me........................

Tell me about it. I took my car in this morning and after spending 2 hours at the Honda dealer they still could nt find the fault, but believe that its from the fuse box. After diagnosing the problem they believe that there may be a loose connection and a trip somewhere, as the Alarm, sensers and siren are OK. Now booked in for 2 days next Thursday as thats then I can get a loan car.

I agree, the last thing that I want to do is to keep taking the car back and hang around for hours at a time! This is a common problem, the guy at the service desk was fully aware of it!

Mine has been to the dealers today and they have now ordered which is termed as a "siren assembly". Waiting to hear back when it comes in and have it fitted. Will then find out whether it actually fixes the fault!

10,000 member on here those who have taken part in the vote show that the majority are more than happy

Then if you look a the bigger picture

100,000+ swindon civics built - 10,000+ civinfo members (of which a tiny proportion have taken part in this survey) = 90,000+ owners unaccounted for

I have to agree with you as human nature means most people with a problem will shout, while a lower percentage of people with no problem will praise.

What annoys me is the fact that all these little faults show that these cars are not fully tested before you get them. I expected better than that considering the price, and for Honda to rely on the dealers to fix their lack of quality control doesn't make things any better.

Sorry brodick, I cant see were you are coming from . Out of 100 people who have taken part in this over 20% have an alarm problem. This figure is well too high for a major car manufacturer like Honda. The numbers of people out there who don’t know about this would be in the thousands. Face it, Honda UK have F*&KED up royal with this. IMO Civic owners should know about it, not just brush it under the carpet because some people have a hard on for their stealers !

Agree to disagree, debate and reason. That’s what makes all this so much fun . Anyway this thread is jumping way off topic now. Back to the main point, Check your alarm folks !

I think sirens to meet CAT 1 have to be hidden, if you think the Honda one is bad, try the Renault Scenic one!!!
