Creaking Front + John Banks Cambridge = Problem Solved!
Hello,
My Civic started creaking from the front at around 20,000 miles and got progressively worse up to its recent service at 25,000 miles. I wrote about it here: Strange noise The noise was basically a creak somewhere between metalic flexing, splintering wood, and an electric arc welder that accompanied every low speed maneuver that wasn't in a straight line. (i.e. braking and accelerating at low speed was fine - unlike people with sub-frame bush issues, by the sound of things - just steering, particularly to the left, caused the creak). Anyway, just got the car back and the problem has been solved. Full marks to John Banks Honda Cambridge, they did a great job, listened to me and fully investigated the problem. They initially thought it was the steering rack. They had a Honda technical team come and look at it and they finally isolated the problem to a cross-threaded bolt on a steering rack bush. New bush & bolt AFAIK and the noise has gone! Hope this might help someone solve their creaking front. Otherwise, I recommend a trip to Cambridge, John Banks's technicians know what's going on Courant Last edited by Courant; 20th June 2008 at 12:40. |
