They think its my slave cylinder. Going to book it in next week or week after.

Solved... I hope so!

Hi all.

I had this clutch squeek for over a year now and decided to have a look at what might be causing it.

The squeek seemed to be coming form the spring on the clutch pedal. Applied some grease as indicated in the attached photo and voila... squeek gone immediately. Hope it remains that way.

Hope this helps.

Mario

Mine is all quiet since having the pedal box and master cylinder replaced under warranty. Hopefully stays this way, touch wood!

Wish the same could be said for the "squak" when the car is cold!

You are lucky as my main deal has just ordered the parts and it will cost me over £500 to have these replaced.(no warranty left) I also need the aircon seviced and new front brake pads. Even though my service is free as its part of the HONDA happiness scheme, it will still cost me over £700.
ouch!!!!

Just got my car back with the new pedal box and master cylinder, the clutch feels like new now. The pocket still hurts.

Just a tip for those suffering from the dreaded squeak.

I've found a sophisticated method of pressing down on the clutch pedal really fast and really hard about a dozen times rids the squeaking, initially it went for a few days and when I noticed it coming back I'd do it again a few times, it's now been 3 days solid and I've not heard anything out of it.

Perhaps someone with the same problem could give this a go.

Of course I appreciate this isn't a perma fix, but if it allows people to survive the squeak a few days at a time for the sake of abusing the clutch pedal a few times then it could be worth it.

Hey,

I have been saving up some money to fix this squeak as it has plagued me ever since I bought the car two years ago. Unfortnately it is well out of warranty and so I will be paying out of my own pocket.

My question is if you guys think if this work can be done by a generic garage instead of an official Honda garage? I am hoping to shop around to find the cheapest place, even though they would have to order the parts in.

Also it is a little confusing reading this thread, in that some say its a master cylinder that needs to be changed, others say it is the pedal assembly.
When I visited honda and asked for a quote they said that they would have to change the entire pedal assembly. I assumed that they were just choosing the most expensive fix.

my warranty on my car enabled me to take it to any vat registered garage so i took it to my friends garage who ordered the part from honda fitted it and 5 months on no problem so the answer you require is yes any garage can do this.

Thanks deni.babe, can I ask if you had the pedal assembly of the master cylinder replaced?

Cheers!

I know this is a known fault with Honda UK, I assumed its replaced even out of warranty I've known people to get 07 plates done for free, does it all depend on good dealers.

I have got my car for 12 days now and I have got that squeaky clutch check last friday and they lubed the parts which fixed it for a day before the squeaky noise came back again over the weekend.

I have booked it in to the garage again for tomorrow which they will check and see which parts they would need to replace (obviously, they can't just take my word for it and go order/replace the Master Cylinder without investigate it themselves first).

I already told them that I have done my research online and know what need to be replace blah blah blah... which the guy put that in record to help their investigation.

I got my car from Arnold Clark so i only have 2 months warranty so hopefully these all will be repair before it expired.

i remember i came across a Memo from Honda which posted by one of the member here which captured this issue with a repair code. should I print that out and give it to the garage when I drop off my car after work today too?

Wouldn't hurt giving them a copy, also helpful if you add the link to this thread so others can find it. Mine squeeked and clicked so I greased it up and had no issues for the last 6 months.

it's a Hint and Tip document and found that in one of the old thread.

link

I saw the DIY thread for fixing this but since i still have my warranty then it better for them to do it instead of me. If anything went wrong they can't blame me and avoid my warranty.

You've assumed wrong! I had to pay £550 for a new pedal box and master cyclinder, the dealer knew it was an known issue as the new parts are now modified parts, but they wouldn't do it for free!

just got a call from the garage to confirm the noise in fact are from the Master Cylinder and it would cost me £390 inc. labor cost to replace it.

this all before i told him that i just bought the car from them 2 weeks and told them i have 60 days warranty which will cover this.

getting this replace next Monday so hopefully this will be the end of this issue for me.

Should of rang Honda uk, some lad on ctro (owns a 2008 type r) he has the click and minor squeak i told him to ring honda uk and enquire about the problem and to mention he's heard it's a known fault, to which the lady agreed and she told him to take it to his nearest dealership and it will be repaired for free.
