Day ended on a bit of a sour note for me, as when we came back to the cars I was going to take some pictures and was looking along the side of my car and noticed a dent, just below the window on the passenger door - which has also pinged a bit of paint off. (Not sure I have enough 's there though)

Doesn't really look like a door opening sort of dent, due to the position. May well have been an errant golf ball as we were beside one of the St Andrews golf courses, although a fair distance away from the edge of the fairway. (And I'm a golfer, so know how far away is sensible to park - I thought we would be ok)

Have sent an email form off to Dent Devils, and will see what they say.

Golf ball dent

Gutted for you PJR, just hope the dent can be taken out and then get smart repair for the paint.
If it had been my car I think that it would have been "the straw that broke the camel's back" and would have been time to sell on because of the luck I've had with mine regarding the bonnet and then the rear end bump.

On a lighter note it was good to meet up with you guys and hopefully see you all at the next meet, perhaps organise a run somewhere ....... suggestions ?

Golf ball dent

Tom,

Know exactly how you feel - it must be 'Dent a Type S' day, today.

I was at the Scotland Meet in St. Andrews today, and came back to find this dent in the passenger door - except I don't think mine has been caused by a door, more likely an errant golf ball. However mine has pinged a bit of the paint off above the dent. I've sent an email form off to Dent Devils and will see what they say.

Good luck in getting yours fixed.

Crikey pjr sorry to hear about your misfortune too

You're right that doesn't look like damage caused by a car door.

The dented bit (on the more vertical surface) doesn't have any marks on the paint, which you might expect with a door hitting it. The only paint damage is above the fold line, just below the window rubber, where the paint had pinged off.

It's also a very round dent (about golf ball sized, but the shape doesn't show up well on the photo) but we'll never know what caused as there was nobody else about when we came back to the cars.

4 or 5 inches higher and it would have been a broken window instead - easier to fix.

But have you ever noticed, that some drivers of P/C's or 4x4's seem to kick the doors open, rather than hold onto the internal handles. ?

Fingers crossed it'll come out, but it is on a crease, mines on a flat panel (something I am grateful for), hoever as suggested Dentmaster, chipsaway, or even your local Honda dealer may be able to help.
I know - I play golf - It must have been a really badly mishit shot, because we were a good 60/70 yards left of the fairway running alongside the edge of the carpark. Unfortunately, no high fences, just some gorse bushes.

Dent Devils do have some photos of repaired dents which are on creases, so I'll just need to see what they say once they've seen the car properly - I've already emailed them photos.

Ahhh, gorse bushes, they probably deflected it downwards into the floor and it ricocheted into yor car..... Fingers crossed they can removed it (they will be one of my ports of call if I can't remove mine...).

Just thinking how I can prevent them from happening in the future (perhaps if I break my legs I can get a blue badge to keep me away from these morons, or I'll go back to using mother and baby spaces, alright your near them but they have a damn great gap to use instead of your door). The people carrier next to me must have been 10 years old, and so guaranteed the owner wasn't bothered (can't believe I still get the amount jealousy and "He's obviously a rich c*** who can afford it".... I used to get that driving the BMW but never thought I'd get it in the civic, I actually had someone say that to my father while we were out in his Range Rover, dented his door [car 2 days old at the time!], oh it doesn't matter you can afford it! Cheeky f***, needless to say reply "Yes I can, BANG BANG BANG, can you?", as several dents appeared in their car).

Can you post a bigger pic, as it appears to be creased to a point, which looks more like a car door now I look again.

ATB,
Tom

There is a bigger pic here, once you click on the thumbnail.

Monthly Scotland Meet

Dent is fairly round, just with a slighty sharper edge as it meets the fold line at the top of the door.

Hmmm, odd, doesn't look quite rounded enough to be a gold ball, perhaps the door off something like a Disco or a people carrier/van like mine??

Can you not check with the golf course as they have insurance for that kind of thing everyone who is a member or pays on the day has golf insurance which is mandatory, and it covers things like that, however if you never seen nothing its a bit harder to prove.

No lines on the grass so didn't matter how we parked

Just been to the local Honda approved body shop (Donald Kirk Ltd), and they are going to give me a quote for a non-insurance repair. If it's too much, then I will go through my insurance company and hopefully still use Kirk's - That way my paintwork/corrosion warranty shouldn't be affected.

Not sure how the liability would work, as we were on public ground. And besides, I can't prove how the damage was caused, as we weren't there when it happened. It looks like a golf ball mark, but might not be.

I had a trawl through the websites for St Andrews Links Trust but couldn't see anything regarding public liability.

And probably, there was a sign at the entrance to the car park saying no liability accepted for damage etc.
