Squeaks How to remove right vent unit?

I have had a most annoying rattle *in* the right vent unit. The dealer has replaced the entire unit and the rattle was gone for a few weeks, but now it's back again. Obviously the entire unit can be removed (I've seen the old one), but I can't figure out how to remove it (in order to find the source of the rattle) without breaking something. Any fingerpoints ?

Yea, take it back to the dealer and tell them it is still rattling

Take off the instrument panel, and the vent comes off with it.

You can then remove the vent from behind the panel. However, I would bet that it's the panel rattling, so I would buy some sticky velvet, take the panel off, find the rub marks and velvet it up.

Have a read of this to see how to take the panel off: Replace the fascia with the Type R glare and scratch free one

Except that I've just noticed that you most likely have a LHD car. D'oh!

The other vent should just lever out - use a trim tool (or a spatula or similar).

Sorry, I realise that this is a UK forum

When I talk about the right air-vent I actually mean the one displayed in your picture that's *not* on the driver side (which has the round airvent). And I'm almost sure it's the lever mechanism that controls the airflow that has some room for a VERY annoying rattle.

My driverside is on the left

How would I remove this unit? Prie a spatula between the unit and the dashboard plastic?

Yes - you need a tool that looks like the top left part of this.
