Mine seems ok, but if I were you I'd be complaining about that. It is clearly not right.

Mine's the same, although having been shown several "faults" on brand new cars waiting to go out while talking to the bodyshop manager the other week I believe this is "normal".....

Well normal as in within "acceptable tolerance levels..."

Mine was as bad when I got it, they realigned it at my last service for no cost, it depends if your dealer is as accommodating as mine. Just got my boot and a couple of rattles to sort now.

Three of our previous cars (2 Renaults Scenics and a Vauxhall Corsa) have been as bad. I think gaps are bigger for pedestrian protection

If they are good and you got the car from them, they will have a vested interest.

Another garage will have no reason to do it for nothing.

Whatever dealer you take it to they should re-align it at no cost to you, as it is a fault and it should be rectified under the warranty.

As ones coming from the factory are like it, the may say "sir it is within manufacturing tollerances".

Well only if you fall for that line, if it doesn't look right then it is not right, and I am sure most of us wouldn't accept that. I certainly wouldn't

Dimply, as I said mine is now better than the new ones in the showroom so I still feel it depends on the garage (BTW mine is great).

YouTube - Trabi Endkontrolle - VEB Sachsenring (funny)
Appart from the kicking of the grill (and the haircuts), everything in that video looked the same as a modern motor production line to me... except the workers will wear clean gloves, and nothing metal of course!

Axley, If I had seen your car, I would have asked to see it's history, badly alligned body parts is an easy sign of a prang in it's past... They can even occur in the factory!, and even Japanese quality control isn't fool proof, as it still depends on humans

My dealer has done mine. The comment I was trying to make is that if you take it to a defferent dealer than the one you bought the car from and have used for work, then they may be less willing.

Bonnet now sorted, just boot struts now

My boot always needs IMO too firm a shut to close properly. Also if I leave my boot open for more than 20 mins the struts seam to dry out and the boot needs shutting in stages to re oil the struts!!
