Cheers, Wheelchair. I hope yours gets sorted too.
I think dealers genuinely want to help, but they can't fix what they can't find. That was the problem with mine, which always seems to be on best behaviour when I'm trying to recreate the problem! Have a great long weekend. |

If you want something different then go for the Civic, it really stands out and feels very special from the driving seat. Other interiors feel old fashioned and dull in comparison.

I've been searching for an alternative car, in case Honda can't help me out. Despite its failings, in my opinion, there is nothing out there which compares to the Civic.
It's so unique, I've yet to find a car about which I feel similarly excited. Here's hoping the dealer comes good! |

Definitely ! If Honda had spent an extra @ £200 on some progressive springs and decent dampers rated for the UK roads we would have :

I live in Poland and the roads make the UK roads feel like the smoothest roads in the world. I have a few rattles but mainly from the rear seats which doesn't really bother me. Amazingly my car doesn't rattle as bad as some of the cars I hear about on here and that surprises me because some of the roads are still cobbled and that is a bone-shaking experience in the best of cars.
Overall I can't complain but when you do hit an uneven surface, sometimes the noise is very scary. |

This is the problem with rattles. Was out in the car today after 20mins it started to rattle, then was quiet on the whole return journey. How are the dealers going to find and sort the rattles when they are really intermittant?

Very difficult to diagnose.
I had a rattle/tapping once that I could have sworn was coming from the nearside airbag area. Turned out to be something inside the centre console. It was only when someone else was in the car who reckoned it came from my side and we started moving things. I wonder why they appear to be elsewhere sometimes ? What's the audible equivalent of an optical illusion ? |

Empty all the cubby holes and crevices, put a rubber band round your keys and give that a try.
ps: Put your watch in your pocket if it has a metal bracelet - I've had that throw a vibration noise more than once. |

If found one of my 2 rattles this morning!
you got the panel of the radiocontrols and the cd-player and on top of that is the other panel where you can put papers or your gps or smt like that. when I put pressure on top of the upper panel, the rattle is gone. I also noticed that the 2 panels are not perfectly aligned, at the right side of the panels there's a millimeter of space. |

Well done, hope you find the other one too.
Has anyone tried WD40 on their dashboards? If so did it stop the rattles caused by trim rubbing? Last edited by Wheelchair; 26th August 2008 at 17:06. |

Don't think I'd use WD40 - it might spoil some plastics longer term (its petroleum based).
I suspect that a silicone oil might be better for compatibility - BUT if you use that you might quieten squeaks up for a while and just make them harder to find in the long term. I imagine they would return as the oil gradually lost its effect. Halfrauds sell a 3 in 1 silicon oil quite reasonably. |
