So do you think that the silicone will be effective if my dash has the same problem?

Whereabouts on the dash was the noise coming from?

Just one word of warning, the silicone spray I given for the Xantia was like spraying varnish, it left the area shiny.

Try it somewhere else first to ensure that it not going to leave an area that sticks out. Or try to get one with a thin plastic tube to aid direction.

I wouldn't spray silicon spray ... a lot of electronics beneath the dash and it might leave shiny surfaces....

Wheelchair, if your wife presses the dash and the rattle stops, maybe put a black piece of rubber of foam between the window and the dash, so that puts some pressure, maybe it stops then

I've got a feeling its more likely inside than out. Will let you all know once I've tried the spray. Feeling lazy so might not do it for a few days!

It seems to me that maybe the silcon spray could be a possible cure for dash rattles?
I've got a few rattles now,
Front Left and Right tweeters,
Just above cd player,
Passenger side rear panel, could this be the suspension problem?
Most annoying, front passenger seat belt bangin against the trim!!!!!

If you go into B&Q you can get rolls of very wide black heavy duty stick-on Velcro (about 3").

I use the wooly part to attach to the hard plastic areas where this is likely to happen.

I've not had any problem with the front belts but I've put some under the outer rear belts to stop the tapping noise there.

While idly browsing the Honda Swindon website (Honda of the UK Manufacturing Ltd Intranet) I came across this bit describing their test track:

"Each car is tested on our specially built 1.4km long test track to ensure that they are to the standard expected by our customers......

....The rough road section has six types of different road surface, such as Belgian cobbles and cracked asphalt and is used to check for rattle and squeak noises.

Presumably if none are found, the car is rejected and sent back to the line to have some installed.

That would be an aural illusion!

I've got my car back to day, apparently there was some sort of deflector under the windscreen (i.e. only seen when they removed the screen), which had come unclipped.

First drive home, no noise at all, although, as others have noted, these sort of things tend to be intermittent.

Fingers crossed, I won't be hearing my squeak again.

Have a good weekend all.

All sorted. I've phoned the dealer and he was beside himself with joy.

My tale is this; if you have a rattle, persevere. I even suggested I might want to get rid of the car. But, the bottom line is your dealer should be able to fix anything they can find. If they won't play, don't accept it, and go elsewhere if you have to!

The difficulty is, with intermittent faults, getting someone at the dealership to hear it too. I lent my dealer my car overnight to confirm that the rattle was there. I even ended up taking the servicing manager for a drive (well, he drove me actually), until he admitted he could hear something...if that hadn't worked, I would have kept going back.

I think the one thing which helped me throughout is that I remembered these are just people trying to do their job. Treat others as you would like to be treated, and you should get similar in return. The conversations weren't always easy, but I was honest throughout, and the dealer clearly understood my frustration.

Fingers crossed for everyone else with rattles!

This talk of dash rattles is begining to get me worried as my R is going for a service in about 900 miles and is having the rev display screen replaced as was badly scratched by the first owner. apparently only microfibre cloth or similar should be used to clean it, I think a brillo pad was used on mine! Hopeing it won't come back rattling!
