The silicone spray sounds as if it's worth trying around the creaking areas. I got rid of one annoying buzz today when I removed all the cds out of the centre arm rest. Taken me weeks to track that one down. It made me think that it's probably worth removing anything that's not fixed to help identify where noises are coming from.

I have lined the CD box under the armrest with that thin foam sheeting that is used to protect the screen of a new TV during transit.
A couple of layers, formed into the shape of the box, keeps the CD cases from rubbing and squeeking.

guys, if you turn up the heaters do the rattles go away? i used to have a focus that did that. the dash would rattle against the windscreen until it expanded with heat then it was solved. not much use in summer tho! lol

Work done so far....... The car is back, but will likely drive it tomorrow now.

The report has suggested that a new air vent is needed on the passenger side, I must admit I thought it rattled, but its hard to tell.

They have also sprayed the clips on the cowling around the speedo with silicone and removed the lugs on the clips that were rubbing against the top of the windscreen. Apparantly the screen location clips were touching the roof skin.

The brackets and clips behind the passenger door card have also been padded. That rattle was constant, so hopefully that's now better.

I'm too tired to drive it now, but will do tomorrow, if its no better then when the air vent is replaced they can have another go!

They could be almost anywhere! You really need someone in the car with you to find them.
  • Horizontal surface, in front of the HU display.
  • Curved surround, above rev counter dial.
  • Windscreen (due to poor fit - repaired under warranty)
  • Badly fitted speakers
  • Tweeter (a good press fixes this)
  • Front seat
  • Rear parcel shelf
