Weird happenings with doors

Had a most surreal journey.

Just set off and after maybe 10seconds of driving, the passenger door alarm/sensor suddenly dinged, so I reached over, and shut the door properly. Quite how this had happened I don't know, since it didnt ding on the way to work, and I hadnt operated the door at all.

Then, about 30 seconds later there was a loud noise, and then a metallic scraping (bit like exhaust pipe dragging on the floor), and the rear passenger door alarm went off! I stopped the car, reshut the door and all seems well.

I checked the bit where I heard the scrape - nothing on the floor, and nothing seems untoward under the car.

Only clue I have is that I checked both doors that side yesterday to check car was locked (which they were).

I also would be worried about the metallic scraping noise. Would it be worth taking it into the dealers for a check-up.

I think it may be the civic poltergeist doing her rounds again.

I suppose in theory the scraping noise could have been outside, and the doors not shut correctly caused me to hear the "outside" more.

Definitely something weird though. Been driving for about 1hr or so this evening... no probs.

Now THAT is spooky....

On Monday, we didn't have the best of starts - ended up leaving the house 20 mins late. (don't ask!)

Daughter (typical teenager) is rather enthusiastic when shutting her door.

keep calm.....

half mile down the road, synchronised scream from the back as the door open warning pings up

bearing in mind that I have auto lock turned on, and that I know she didn't unlock hers....

I put it down to a one off - but perhaps the Civic ghost has given up on filler caps (the last spooky episode) and moved onto doors?

Could the scraping sound have been a stone in the brakes(as Pottsy had) and the stone popped out ?.

It's quite possible, as the car park is fine gravel.

Basegreen - do you have autolocking enabled? If so is it something to do with that? If not then I don't know! When I first got my Focus the rear hatch had a habit of suddenly clicking open whilst I was driving along. It turned out to be a faulty hatch opening button on the dashboard sticking. Before they replaced the button I found that locking the doors stopped it from happening. Could be disconcerting though driving along in traffic and the hatch opening - go over a bump and the hatch would bounce completely open!

Had it again today (and yesterday). Used the internal door lock last night whilst waiting for someone (dodgy ppl around). Unlocked it, left the car, came back and ever since, occasionally the doors wont open when "unlocked".

You can sort of half open them, too! It's really very odd, I ought to get it looked at I suppose.

2nd civic, 2nd door problem - it's locked me in before in the old one..

There's definitely something odd about the locks.

btw Auto locking is not enabled on mine, definitely not.

Is it the locks not working or the doors sticking do you think?

Only quite a few times now my my back doors wont open, its like they are locked but they are not!! I put it down to the handle not working properly or the door just being stuck, the same thing happened with my previous civic.

Could it be the central locking playing up ?.
