Humming Noise when i move off...

On my Type R, does anyone know why most times when the car is cold, just as I start to move off (low speed and still coming off, or just off the clutch) I get a humming noise from the front? Once im rolling at over 5mph its quiet again.

I'm thinking it's binding brakes, and its in for new pads with ABP v.soon, but has anyone had this themselves? I've done 11,000 miles.

Once the car has warmed up, i can pull away with no humming.

Any stories would be interesting to hear!

Sounds like it could be the thrust bearing....also not sure about the FN2 but my old EP3 the flywheel was prone to warping very very slightly, but once warmed up it was fine.

A humming noise doesn't sound like the brakes, that's more of a metallic screeching sound.

Yeah I get a humming sound when Im driving into my garage as its got a bit of a slope. I also get the same sound when I reverse and if the road is not level. I dont think its much to worry about if its the same sound, at least you dont get a strange sound doing 70 + MPH!

i used to own a hrv ( don't take the piss ) and found that the gearbox idler shaft was noisey ie when i had the car in neutral without the clutch being pressed but never had any problems with it so it must have been normal

I've seen problems with RE6 diesel CR-V front brake pads binding and causing a humming/creaking noise at very low speeds, but never any issues like this on Civic.

Might be worth jacking the front of the car up and spinning the wheels by hand to see if this replicates the noise.
