'06 cars
Sorry but yet again owners ( naming no names) are stopping
people buying new '07 my cars The '07 build cars seem to be much improved o.k Geoff has said wait until 1000 miles but I cannot stand back and watch people go on an on and on to the point that you are stopping people buying one of if not the best small hatch on the market today Our car is two weeks old today and done 300 miles and I know of other '07 owners who are just as happy as we are who will more than likly have more miles on the clock I have to say to anyone thinking of buying a NEW civic go for it to those buying an '06 or early '56 plate car do a background check on the car |

I know when I bought my cr-v in 2004 I felt it should have been a bit cleaner than it was when it was handed over to me and when the Honda new car survey cam in I noted this down within a week I had a call from the dealers offering a full valet and we have always had good service since. |

Yes the early cars had faults, mine included. But essentially we have the same people going over the same things which is giving people an inaccurate impression of the car (as well as becoming very boring). My car was one of the earlier ones so going by what I read here it should be riddled with faults but no it hasn't been. Any problems I have had were fixed quickly and efficiently by my dealer who was excellent.

Sorry to here you have been put off buying a new Civic,at the end of the day the decision is yours. As I have said before I enjoy my car even though I have had a couple of problems, have found my dealer very helpful in that respect. I think I have only had one new car that did not give me problems. To be honest I expect to have the odd problem when I buy a car. Maybe that's just me. Whatever you decide to buy I wish you all the best. |

No I'm not being unsupportive, in fact I find it very disappointing you have had such a negative experience when mine has been so positive. Yes you are entitled to post your opinions and findings here, that what forums are for after all. I'm just unhappy that Peter_newton is considering cancelling his order based on the views of the minority. This has been raised several times before in that forums attract far more negative comments than positive. How many people searched for a Civic forum because they loved the funky looks(just an example!)? And how many searched for a Civic forum because they couldn't open the fuel filler cap? People will always seek to comment on the negative before the positive, often the case with other things in life too. It also seems Peter has had bad experiences with Honda himself and I believe it is better to come to important decisions on things such as purchasing a car from ones own experiences rather than based upon those of someone who clearly bought a lemon! That's not meant to be a dig either, but unfortunately they do happen and it's not just Honda's. I think people would be lying if they said they had bought a new car before and not had any problems with it. Ford's, Vauxhalls, they're all the same and the premium brands can be particularly bad. Just my thoughts.

Rhodgreen - I think cp was making the point that prospective owners may be unnecessarily put off due to the fact that problem cars naturally get much more airtime than good cars.
One of the great powers of car forums is that those people with problems can get help - and possibly even precipitate a reaction from the manufacturer. Long may it continue! EDIT: I wrote the above before I saw cp's post above! |

Is that there are owners of Fords, VW's Volvo's, Toyota's etc who will have had or are having problems like youself and a few other forum members you have to expect a few issues with an all new model but It seems you have been very unlucky with your car and I do think Honda CS should have done more about it but it is getting you nowhere venting your frustrations on the forum- all It is doing is be putting people off buying a NEW '07 civic which is wrong- because they are a lot better than many an car on the road today Having said that I do think that people intending on purchasing a used '06 or early '56 plate car should do their homework before buying the majority of the cars are fine - but it doesn't hurt to be careful |

As far as I'm concerned, the more people that don't buy a new Civic the better I feel, and maybe, just maybe a slump in Honda sales (wishful thinking) might make them take my car seriously!

Can I say just have a say here
I am one of those with on going problems (my main problem is Honda CS ignoring me and my solicitor, that really winds me up more than anything) most of the problems including the radio issue I have learnt to live with as frustrating as they are and having spent £15,000 on a car I did not expect to have had so many courtesy cars within the first year of ownership. However, slightly off topic but having just sat and watched a couple of hours of comic relief and some of the dreadful stories of poverty, death and children suffering in so many countries (including the UK) I have to say that I have a home, food, a job, my health and two lovely children. Yes we all have our own problems in life, problematic cars included but we are actually the lucky ones!! Unusual sentimental rant from me over |

Sorry to hear about all your problems, have you contacted Trading Standards or thought about getting a professional body involved. To be honest I don't think venting your frustations on here is going to get you anywhere [ I mean that in a nice way]. I hope things work out for you. |
