Been for the service now. 1. Paint is "normal wear and tear", guess who is not satisifed. 2. Can't find anything 3. Fixed 4. Can't find anything 5. (added) Water inside drivers door - they took out the 3 bungs. That's a fix? So what about "why does the door leak?". I am VERY unlikely to buy a Honda again. |

I, myself, discovered a paint/dent problem along the crease line along the leading edge of the passanger door. Looks like there is too much paint applied by the factory or there has been a touch-up to cover a dent/depression. Quite annoying. Does not look good. Probably a waste of time trying to get it attended to. I am sure there will be some sort of smart explaination! Definitely looks like a repair. Will have a go anyway. Sorted the faulty window rubber myself, even though the body-shop manager at Chiswick Honda promised me he was going to call me last week after I had spoken to him face to face. He also said that he would not be happy to see such a fault if it was his own new car! Still waiting for the call! Still not happy with the way the doors are attached. Gaps between the door edges with front and rear wings are not the same. In fact, the gaps are nearly twice as great for the front. At least, the car runs well and there are no rattles, yet. Small mercies! Must admit, the car is not very well made. Maybe I have got one of the many duff ones. No Japanese customer would accept such faults. Perhaps I should not either. Will keep you posted. |

Well, as certain as day is light and night is dark....the Civic keeps developing little faults (at least the major ones seems to have settled). I think keeping this car beyond the three year warranty is going to be foolish. What shall I go for next?!
Anyway..... Now upto... 26. Black strip between windscreen and roof came loose. The dealer told me this strip is cosmetic only! Thankfully it didn't rain before they fixed it - but it certainly wasn't only cosmetic driving along the motorway - the high pressure air being pushed into the roof made it sound as if the metal of the roof was going to give way! |

That long list of bugs
Well, after my last post, the skipman dropped a part of his rubbish onto the passanger side rear quarter panel. Gave it in to my own garage (WSG) to get repaired. They had 3 goes over a period of 7 weeks and made a bigger mess of the car. They overpolished and rubbed off the paint from the front wing and along the crease line of the rear quarter panel! They even kerbed the front wheel quite badly. They fixed the wheel but refused to fix paintwork. Now the car is going into Chiswick Honda to get the whole side resprayed. My insurance company Lv-Frizzells have been amazing and totally supportive. Cost £968.75. Ouch!
Other warranty issues:- (1) The doors still need some adjustment which Chiswick Honda will attend to. (2) The bonnet needs re-alignment. (3) Drivers side inside door trim has some scratches which were there from new. The cheap and nasty plastics get easily scratched. Chiswick Honda again to come to the rescue, hopefully. (4) Driver's side 'A' pillar inside moulding is slightly buckled. Has already been replaced once under warranty. (5) Electrics playing up. Radio loses station and goes dead until engine is switched off and then re-started. (6) Climate control can sometimes do strange things, but I cannot be bothered to get this seen to just yet. The car is still great fun to drive and even with all these problems I love it! However, I don't think I will get another one or any car made in a UK factory even if it is Japanese! This country is incapable of manufacturing to a high standard. Changing it next year in September once the 18 month lease ends. You might be interested to learn that 'Which' magazine gave Honda top marks for the most reliable make, except the Civic which hit bottom spot! |

Maybe you will be happy with a car where there is just the base coat showing on various body panels. Go on, treat yourself to a car from the Communist era. I am sure you will enjoy respraying it yourself.
