if they do need to keep it in i will get a courtesy car wont i? (sounds like a silly question but thought id check)
If it's Springfield Andrea, you'll have to ask, then book one. You have the choice of insuring it on your own policy or paying £10 per day insurance to the dealer. If you insure it on your own policy, take it with you when you drop the car off and the people on the service desk will phone thorugh for you - just needs you to have a quick chat with your insurer to authorise while they do this

Exclamation eps recall

just wanted to post a little known fact for you all,on the latest civic the are 16 different eps control units fitted across the range & your dealer isnt allowed to keep any in stock !,hence why you have to return a second time or leave overnight for next day parts to arrive to get you eps unit replaced.

Mine's just got back from the dealer, booked in again before Christmas for new dampers, new EPS control unit, new petrol filler door and new gas struts on the tailgate, as they need a good shove to get them to go above half way up. Went in filthy, came back washed and polished with the inside hoovered too!

Had my letter lst week. Own an early one - mine will be a year old in 2 weeks [yes I would have waited til Jan but got offered £400 more and 3 years free service if I took delivery before Christmas!]. Bin told it'll need a new steering Unit. No problems with the rear shocks as far as I can see but am getting new ones. Also grumbled about fuel cap sticking. They have put another bit of sponge, Bob. They haven't heard about the 'S' spring suggested by other contributors to this site.

we had a demo 2.2d sport, after we had done 100 mls the PAS went, reset it by turning the ignition off and try again! The domo car failed again and again, the AA man said it was an electrical fault that honda would sort out, don't let it put you off. We now have a june 06 car and no problems!!

Had mine checked yesterday, They asked if I was going to wait which I did as they said it was going to take about 50 minutes to check. 1 hour 35 later they get back to me and tell me I don't have the problems, so at least I wont have to go back I'm starting to be on first name terms with the lovely lady on reception

I'm taking mine in 8:30 on Saturday; if it takes them more than 3 hours then I'm not going to be happy as they close at 12!

took mine in today, took it in at 9am and went back to fetch it at 1530, we agreed on 3 pm as a pick up time as i had graeme with me to go off and do things. everything sorted but got to take it back in for a replacement cylinder for the clutch as it is squeeky. happy overall.

My car was in today as well...new EPS unit needed and a lump of foam under the fuel filler cap to make it a one man operation to open the filler cap.
However once i whinged about the foam, they promised a new fuel cap at the same time as the new EPS unit.
I did find it slightly worrying however that I received no recall letter from Honda - it was only through this site that i got to know about the recall. A quick call to Honda CS confirmed that it needed to be checked at the dealers. Letter lost in the post or is Hondas database flawed?

Apparently letters are going out to all owners affected by the rear shock absorber issue. I haven't as yet received mine, has anybody?

Poss reason:
The dealer did check the 'PUD' for my chassis number, however, according to the the database it doesn't affect mine - so it has to be checked out first . My car was built around the time this problem was born and it clunks away coming off the drive !!!

Traceability of parts - seems Honda's database maybe lacking!

I have also checked http://www.honda.co.uk/owner/cars/customerDetails.jsp and found no issues for my car!!!!

(PUD: Product Update Doc . . . . . . I believe!)

All dealers are different. Some have fully insured and readily available courtesy cars others don't have a thing. Usually they are somewhere in the middle - 'we have a car but not until XXXX' (3 weeks away) and you may need to insure it. Either way insist on a car as its Hondas mistake not yours.
