Even more scary - My Renault Laguna was better built than the current Civic.

Just checked my one out and just the seals are showing signs of 'misting'.

Noticed at the same time that both rear light clusters are suffering that prob as well!

I think anyone who can say they have not had any problems at all with their Civic is extremely luck and rare!

If the condensation in the light fittings are "characteristics" of this car then you can all look forward to the same problem in the future as you should bear in mind that many of these faults come to light after a period time and not always straight away. If this were my only problem with my car then I would be very happy. You only have to look at the threads in "Bugs Faults and Irritations" and the abundant replies to see that there are plenty of Civics with problems, bear in mind that only a few of us owners visit this site and there are plenty more out there whom could be having the same or different problems.

My car has some condensation, but it not a problem. Not in the slightest. Condensation happens, it can appear in light listers of any car as the clusters are not air tight and when there is a temperature change, if there is warmer humid air in the lights, it condenses on the cooloer lens.

The water droplets on the boot are not a fault, and are not indicative of poor quality. It just happens because there is a rubber bead at the join.

And Topcat, I don't believe the members of this forum are a fair and true sample of all Civic owners. The majority of owners who are happy will not look for this kind of place to ask questions or seek fixes.

We all have at leat 2 years left on our warranties. If anything does happen about this, other than a small amount of condensation, we can get it sorted then.

I totally agree with Bungle, if I looked hard enough and for long enough I'm sure I could find 1000 little things I'm not happy with...... but I can't be bothered. The Civic is a fantastic car and until something falls off it or doesn’t work as I should then I’m happy.

Me too, see no problem in this.
Like somebody in the forum complained that his car gets dirty rather fast. Deuh.
This gives me a reason to wash the car more often and feel the smooth curves...

Sorry but I can't understand why people will "put up" with this kind of thing? The seal doesn't work, end of story... it's malfunctioning and it's ugly.

It's a new car, what's wrong with expecting it to be perfect? When people ask "how's the new car" and you reply with "not bad except for the condensation on the rear cluster, the boot and the fuel cap doesn't open", do you not feel slightly.... less enthused with your new purchase?

If I went to half lengths in my day to day job then I'd probably be sacked for gross miscondunct and/or jailed.

I washed mine and got the same effect as in the posted pic. But it appears to me the seal is working stopping the water entering (otherwise it would run past it?)
Can't see this as a problem myself.

It's a constant on mine (and other's presumably). Nothing to do with washing or rain!

Well, as i can see there is no condesation past the rubber seal (on the pic posted here), so the seal is working.

went to check the condensation thing the other day, and all i could find are 2 large dead bugs in the rear brake light cluster. Dinner time anyone?

It is not supposed to be there!

I have been put in contact with someone who has some "issues" with the Civic one of which is condensation in the light clusters, they have been told by the dealership that it has not been seen before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and if it is still there is a few weeks they will replace them.

'Watchdog' has been mentioned. I wonder how Honda would react if the prospect of a referral were mentioned by a sufficient number of disgruntled owners who feel their justifiable complaints have been ignored.

According to the poll on this forum 85% of owners have either no problems, minor niggles or faults caused by dealers. Given the suggestion that the makeup of this forum will include a greater proportion of owners looking for information on faults with their car than the the rest of the civic owning public I think the car isn't that bad. However, of course those that have a problem with their car are entitled to good service. But surely to give the impression the whole time that this is a cr*p car just isn't backed up by the figures. Perhaps a simple poll of who's satisfied with their Civic and who's not is called for. I am one of the "lucky" ones, 10000 miles and no problems what so ever, or is it really AM I one of the lucky ones?

As much as I appear to moan all the time - I do love the look of the car (from a distance in my case ) and I wouldn't have bought it if I didnt love the way the car drove on test drives. But please try to understand when you do have problems and lots of them you cant help feeling negative. You are very lucky, I would love to jump in the car and drive off with a smile on my face

Without making any assumptions, my reading of the poll is that currently 66% of 97 voters have had at least one problem.
I think all Civics have this condensation, this is a problem to some, not to others. To me it's a poorly designed seal that should never have made it out of the door.

thats the problem with statistics, your analysis is as correct as mine though seen differently, hence the suggestion that a poll that simply asked "are you satisfied with your Civic" would help.

CE, you're right, and despite several problems I do like the car. As each problem gets fixed, the happier I am. I can't imagine how boring it must be to have one that is right first time.

I think some people are fussy and some are not ,Im fussy but also expect when i spend good money on something i don,t have to take it back to be fixed all the time.i think also these forums are not a massive help because in some instanses thay make people paranoid
