sloshing petrol tank
Hi there folks,
anybody else noticed this. It only happens when i am going slowly but i can definately hear my diesel sloshing in the tank. A bit unnerving at first as i didn't realise what it was. I know the tank is under the front seats, just wondered if anything is wrong with my baffles (if thats what they are called) |

hi there. think I know what you mean - it happens when I'm coming to a stop in the car and it does sound like something is sloshing or settling down. So yes, I have the same problem as you. Anyone else know if this is actually a problem that we need to get sorted, or is it normal?

Although, it currently makes no difference to me because someone thoughtfully decided to drive into the back of my car at the lights, causing £2500 worth of damage and will take two weeks to fix. Incidentally, my insurance company seem to think that a base model 1.6l petrol Vauxhall Zafira is a "similar size and status" to my 2.2l diesel EX!!!
Sorry for going off topic - I'm just bitter! |

now if its the fuel tank which is directly under the drivers seat, then its normal we all get it, more so when you've just filled up, or it could be water trapped in the doors

ALL your doors are full of water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! remove the rubber bungs at the bottom of the doors and watch 10 gallons come out of each door, these cars are crap. We have removed the bungs and thrown them.

Checked all mine too. Seem to work. Bone dry like CZ's.
Weren't they removing them at first service though? The other sloshing is definitely the fuel tank. Used to hear it quite often on my Jazz, but so far not in the Civic. |

Mine weren't removed at service. Unless they removed them to let out some water and replaced them. I'll try again in a few weeks and see if there is anything to report then.

of course, the fact that we haven't had a drop of rain, and temps in the mid 20s every day for the last month or so, might just possibly be why there was no water in your doors CZ...

I have a 57 plate 2.2 sport. When the tank is full, the is a definite knock from the area of the fuel tank. Ease off and then prod the brakes gently and the knock is instant. As the fuel tank empties to about half, the "noise" slowly goes away. Very very annoying, makes the car sound like it has 100k on it and not 2k.

I only here a slight sloshing sound every so often and it is really on if I have to hit the brakes whether travelling at speed or slowly when the tank is full or nearly full doesn't really bother me
