The sloshing is also there, i can live with that but the knocking noise means that i never fill up now. The Honda tech guys get are getting back to me. Pretty annoying only putting £25 quid in at a time. The knock sounds like something lose in the tank but as i said, goes away as the tank empties. Thanks Brodick.

Carter - is your fuel gauge failt accurate, or does it fluctuate a bit?

I'm wonderring if the fuel level sender unit might be a bit loose...

TTDEGS.....the fuel guage seems more than okay, if i brim it, takes about 70 miles or so before it drops......my "guess" was also the sender unit, but the gauges are okay....seriously, its a bloody annoying knock.

hmmm - thats sounds about right...

I guess that the tank itself might not be completly bolted down?
It might be that a fullish tank of fuel has enough weight to move it around a bit, whereas a half full tank doesn't...

But that's clutching at straws a bit I'm afraid, and doesn't really feel quite right

This "story" took another turn when i ordered a new 08 Civic type S GT 2.2 and his car does exactly the same. He has come from the old shape Type R and knows a bit about his cars. So annoying is this knock i now run around with half a tank of fuel, took it back to the dealer last week and they said it was AGAIN just the fuel - ITS NOT. I have half a tank in this morning and NO knock, no sloshing, NOWT. Now, I also ordered another 2.2 sport in NHB for another driver and his car has NO noise's whatsoever.

I just picked up my 08 Type-S GT 2.2 last week and have done around 1200miles already.

I'm getting sloshing sound everytime after I've filled up. It's weired at first, and is getting annoying. Now I'm starting to hear the odd knock sound (even at half tank), I'm still investigating what it is after reading different infos on this forum.

I'm sure the sloshing sound I hear is fuel in the tank and in line with other posts I really only get it just after I've filled up.
It was a bit disconcerting when I first got the car but now I don't take any notice.

What's more annoying is that when I go round sharp bends I have what sounds like a small screw or other object rolling round from the back seat area. I've had people sit and try to identify where the sound's coming from with no luck. Probably someone dropped a screw or something inside one of the panels during manufacture.

When i first bought the Type S the sloshing with a full tank was quite apparent.Does'nt seem an issue now or really that noticeble.

Have noticed recently, with the occasional full throttle getaway,I can get a loud metallic knock, which when braking firmly will 'mirror' itself.I'm thinking it could be a half shaft coupling, but now, maybe the fuel tank.Service is due soon,so will have it looked at then.

mike, will split this into another thread if there are lots of replies, but if you have the reversing camera fitted, it's a dlr fit job that involves getting into the inside of the boot door. There are a couple of clips then to hold the wires in place, and one of them may be rattling around back there.

I have one which very occasionally floats around when I open the boot - perhaps once every couple of months
(that it rattles - I open my boot more than that! )
