Sorry pcr, I mixed up my stuff...
This is what I found in the (italian) service manual. I think it indicates that the lower part of the screen has a bigger buffer, so the flexing could be normal... (may be some italian guy can help). |

Did he remove the windscreen and replace with other one, or just injected some glue or something? For the manual, it has been a while so I do not remember the exact steps. You have to "mount'' a virtual drive on your computer, us a program like deamon tools. http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/announcements.php This virtual drive will access the file and extract it to a html folder. Then best burn this html folder to DVD. |

The dealer had the screen removed completely and all of the original bonding material removed as far as possible. It appeared that the original bonding material had failed to cure properly as it retained an excessive elastic consistency, allowing sufficient movement of the screen within its apperture to create a 'chatter' over bumps.
The original sceen was re-fitted ensuring that the buffers or locating pads were correctly positioned, using new bonding agent to glue the screen back in place. This has cured the fault. Thanks for the tips for opening the file - I will try again. |

Thanks digisine. Did the dealer give you the impression that this is a known problem, or an isolated case?
If you can not unwrap the manual, I can put it unwarped on my work ftp site for you to download (about 300MB). |

My dealer told me that they had been instructed to remove and re-fit the windscreen by Honda technical department as there were some known intances of incorrect screen location in relation to the body aperture. This advice was provided after all other possibilities had been resolved - i.e. door open, 'A' post trim and airbag removed, test drive over route.
Certainly the problem has now gone away and beleive me, the roads around where i live (in common with many other parts of the British Isles fairly dreadful. p.s. I have the manual in unwrapped form on my hard drive having downloaded it from the site address shown else where on this forum. Maybe its best to upload it to your site and for you to then give me the URL? |

Seems we are getting closer to solve the windscreen mistery...
With all this info I can get to my dealer. My screen or dash makes the noise rarely. It will never make noise when the dealer is testing it. |

I also have a problem with my windscreen
Hello Guys!
My english is not the best, but i hope, you'll understand me... I also have a problem with my windscreen. When i push the windscreen, as shown as in Stef's post, i'm also able to move the windscreen for 1 or 2 millimetres. But the bad thing is the follwoing: I think, that there comes rain in my car. I made a photo yesterday after driving one hour in rain. I wasn't able to read my vehicle identification number after this test drive... Has anyone of you also waterdrops as shown in the picture below? I hope, you can help me... Greetings from Austria Reto |

Usually when it is raining my VIN gets like that too. And some others here have experienced the same.
There's another thread about it somewhere. Asked the dealer about it, they told me to keep an eye on it. That was six months ago. It does happen sometimes, not sure why. However, when I drive around and the A/C is blowing dry into the cabin, it clears up. My dealer did offer to replace the windscreen, but I decided against it for now. Mostly because I had just gone through a lengthy patch of driving a loan car while the Civic was in the shop for something else. If it does become a problem, it will obviously be replaced under warranty. |
