Fuse box recall: and my warranty
I took my CTR in to the dealer this morning to have the outside air temperature sensor replaced under warranty (gave up the other week in the "extreme" cold weather we have had). When I dropped the keys off the dealer mentioned when they put my reg into their database the car also required a new fuse box under a recall to fix the flat battery fault.
My problem is that I have fitted my own footwell lighting kit to my CTR, and have spliced the power in to the interior dimming circuit, from a connector that from memory was located very close to the fuse box i.e. when the mechanic goes in to replace it they will see all of my additional wiring and LED strips etc. The job is quite neat as I have experience with electronics but I am anxious I am about to receive a call from the dealer saying "what's all this wiring and did you know your warranty is void". Where do I stand? Are they likely to cause a fuss about it or will the mechanic simply work around it? I'm not overly fussed about the fusebox getting replaced since I have only suffered a flat battery once when I left the car for 2 weeks, however my preference is obviously to get it done. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? |

My CTS went in to have the temperature sensor done last week under warranty and also i was told about the fusebox upgrade when I arrived, I too have dimming footwell lights that I installed, anyway, nothing got mentioned regarding the footwell lights, so I think you'll be fine.

The Fuse Box recall only affects MY08 models see here - http://www.civinfo.com/forum/bugs-fa...it-recall.html

Cheers for the response guys! I guess the only other risk is that when they remove the under-dash cowling they rip off the LED strips but that's easily fixed with some double sided tape.
I wasn't told about the recall until I took the car in, so I don't think it's related to the car still being under warranty or not. If you're not sure whether your civic is affected then call your dealer, but as NoNumpty says it doesn't affect everyone! |
