They should still give you the option of a replacement car, but even then I may think again about that option cos at least you know the problem(s) should now be behind you with this one.
Hopefully you will now get to enjoy! Good luck! |

It is extremely unlikely that a replacement car would be given after this length of time especially as most of the faults have been fixed.
Every cloud has a silver lining - at least you haven't added those extra 2500 miles to your own car. You have waited 3 days for a reply from Honda UK, I have been waiting for 5 months - they would never win a a prize for the fastest response! Whereas Japan replied within 10 days!! Just to reiterate i didnt write to Japan to complain about anything trivial, my main complaint to them was the way in which Honda Uk appear to be ignoring me! Anyway I hope all goes well with the car on Saturday |

Cheers all, I actually went out for a drive at lunchtime with Dave and heard with my own ears that the noise had gone so it should be okay on Saturday. All they will be doing is cleaning the car inside and out and also re-aligning the steering wheel, putting the airbag and some trim back in.
There are still the odd strange shaky / trim noise from the back of the car but that is just the parcel shelf / bits and bobs I keep in the under boot compartment so I am not bothered about that. Oh how I have missed the 60bhp the 1.4 is down....the glass roof letting the light in and the cruise control for my trips to London. Yes, I am also glad that the miles have not been on my car but still. So thumbs up to Amethyst and Dave. Thumbs up to Johnathan for not fobbing me off and doing a good job as service manager and a big thumbs down for Swindon and Honda customer service. |

Well it is good. The car is as it has not been since I bought it! Drives well, sounds well, and now I have proper performance, leather on my steering wheel etc. It is strange, but the 1.8 ES really does feel a class apart from the 1.4 SE!!
I have no real confidence that something else will not fall off or break but at the moment things are good. I will try to enjoy them! |

I understand where you are coming from there. You need a good long period of trouble free driving before you will feel full of the joys of Civ. Enjoy. |

I just thought I'd pop in and have a look at how people are getting on with their Civic's.
My 1.8ex went in January after nearly 20,000 miles of problems. Now have two new cars in family. Ford Fiesta ST and Hyundai Coupe, both 2 litre models and both very different to Civic. But both have had no problems. ST much more fun to drive, Hyundai much more quiet, comfortable. Both faster and equally economical. Real shame Honda failed to develop Civic properly, could have been a great car, just some poor quality control, horribly cheap finish & ropey petrol engine let it down. |

[/quote] Thats good to hear - no problems, just like I have said all along the civic has far too many "teething" problems but most people insist its normal for a new car - You have proved them wrong and me right - oh how I love being right |

chillicat - good to see you again, and glad you've now got trouble free motors
hopefully they stay that way although a quick browse of http://forums.hyundaicoupe.info/ shows a few people with issues though in here would recognise and the ST (though you need to register) has a few issues too http://www.focusstoc.com/forums/ internet forums - where people with problems go to try and find answers |

well basically i sold something to a certsain magazine a while ago and hve direct contact numbers, they often run these kind of things and i reckon it might be worth contacting them, yours could be the centre story and then we could list all the problems weve had as whole as well

Hmmmm, maybe - but then if ever I want to sell my car everyone will say "hey your the one in that magazine who had lots of problems with your car"!! lol and then I might be stuck with it forever I will see if I get a reply to my last letter first, and then if not maybe I will go and buy a Hyundai Coupe or a Fiesta ST |

I have had replies from both Steve Dyer (Head of Customer Service) and Roger Moore the boss of Amethyst. And to be honest the response from Steve is a bit funny. Basically offering me something that I do not need as I already bought a great servicing deal with my car (as I bought it to keep for at least 5 years) as a goodwill gesture over the problems I have had.
Now I would be happy about this if, a) I did not already have this and b) the problems were solved. But whilst all the mechancical shaking steering rack noises have gone the car over bumpy roads sounds like it is falling apart still. I just need to get either Steve or Roger in the car with me for a drive over some local roads. And then ask them if they think that is acceptable for a car with 15,000 miles. It sounds absolulety awful. Roger has said (more as a standard response I suspect) that if I need anything I should contact him, well I am going to. Asking for 10 minutes of his time for a drive around Cheltenham in my bucket of rattles. The saga of the worse made car of all time continues. |

Do you think Amethyst put it back together wrong? I'd be intrigued to experience your car for myself to be honest, get a comparison with my own.
At least by offering you the service deal you already have you can expect them to offer an alternative or a refund on the servicing deal. |
