To be honest I do not think that is the case. On smooth roads or those with bumps but smooth asphalt it is fine.

It is over potholes and rough surfaces that seem to get the whole trim shaking and moving around. It is deeply annoying.....going out for a drive with Dave at lunchtime so I have an independant witness to these noises. Steve Dyer called me yesterday and is going to arrange the car visits Swindon for a back to back with other Civics, presumably on their test track. If they have belgain pave and they drive on it at 20-30 mph and tell me that all Civics are supposed to shake like that I will despair!!!

Okay, so I spent some time with Steve Dyer and Gary Castle who are the heads of Customer Operations and Quality and they were pleasant chaps.

We went out in my car and then went out in a random car off the Amethyst lot out the front of the dealers (1.8 ES, 56 plate with 6ooo miles) to do a back to back.

It was find that the re-assembly of the interior of my car (specifically the rear around the boot, tailgate, parcel shelf) was very poor with things not fitted correctly etc. This could be the cause of a lot of the loose feeling trim. And has been since the car was returned to me after the bodged roof welding by the factory. It seems the bodyshop did not do a good job of putting it back together. I never really noticed, the trim fit not the noise, but I am sure it will make a big difference.

As for the dash.....Gary certainly noticed a difference between my car and the random ES but could not pinpoint the cause, rather like myself.

So the end result is that the car is going back to Swindon for them to rebuild the interior and investigate the dash.

I am pleased that they came down (I also imagine that the Amethyst head Roger's insistence helpd in this matter) and have taken my thoughts on board. It was amusing to note that they could tell I love the car itself and how annoyed I was with the trim etc!

So the car will be gone for another two weeks but will be taken to its birthplace for some cosmetic surgery. As was never my intention I am not after any compensation or anything, I just want the car back in the condition it should be for its 1 year old age and then I can get on and enjoy my car again.

I am pleased that Honda have taken me seriously, good job gents. I am looking forward to getting my car back again in a couple of weeks.

It is due back on the 30th, although I cannot pick it up until the 1st of June due to me working in London. I am quite enjoying the CRV they have given me, a very nice vehicle. The wife wants one.... trouble is the one I am in costs £26,000.

Maybe in 2 years time I can pick one up with 30,000 miles.....then it might be in my £15,000 budget!

Blimey, that's a long 2 weeks! Hope it passes quickly for you - unless you prefer the CRV & get a deal out of them to keep your wife happy!

Mine went back to Swindon, I was told two weeks, which turned into four weeks.
I hope you have better luck with the results of the interior rebuild. Mine returned back from Swindon with some external repairs carried out FOC and very well cleaned.
Car came back the complete shambles it always was in terms of interior though.

Well it is due back at the end of this week...but to be honest I am happy with the CRV they have given me at the moment!!!

Luckily mine has gone back for a mostly interior rebuild (around the middle and rear of the car (boot, rear boot trims, tailgate etc) so I am hopeful they will do that properly as the two guys pointed out the problems to me. They are also kindly fixing a small dent in the front door too (which is nice of them as it was nothing to do with them or the dealer, rather the fat woman next door who has thankfully moved out now) .... so fingers crossed!

Well it would have to be massive....to be honest the boot is no bigger than the Civic. It is just with the seats up it has more rear legroom, the seats are not clever like the Civic. It would seem that when I own the Civic in 2 years time I will then be getting a 2 year old CRV of the new shape to transport as will hopefully be then .... my first child...along with the wife of course!

She has here heart set on one, and to be honest it would make good family transport. Does not get my pulse racing but it is fast enough, handles well...rides very well and gets 33mpg in town and 36mpg on the M4. Fairly cheap to tax (£160) and insure (group 12 I think) .... so yeah, I can see one in the family.

It would mean that I would need to keep the Civic as my daily driver.....so it would need new wheels I think!

I was originally looking at the old shape CRV although I really wanted the Civic - I thought the Civ wouldn't be big enough for family & lugging a drum kit around. The salesman pointed out the space in the Civ & the CRV was soon forgotten about.

I must say you are sounding remarkably upbeat about the Civic given your troubles. Talking of still keeping the Civic some way down the line - must be love, albeit with a lot of hospital visits! I would've expected this much devotion only with your own children, not a car!!

Good service goes a long way mate! As I have said all along the service from Amethyst has been first class. Honda needed a bit of a prod to come down take responsibility and they have done that. Awaiting to see the results with baited breath!

Despite the problems the overall ownership experience with Honda has been better than with Fiat, Alfa and Mercedes.

Ah man.....I am seriously lost for words.

Got a call today from Amethyst, went down to see my car. Imagine my surprise when checking the car out I find that the B pillar trim they were going to replace was still there. The dent was still in the door, the tailgate trim was still wonky and ill fitting and the boot trim (which supports the parcel shelf) was still gaping. So they have had the car for 1 month in Swindon and not a single thing has been done.

***.

Emails have gone out to Steve and Gary asking them for feedback.

Kept the CRV....and will do until I get answers.
