Bird cr*p magnet
The latest fault I find myself annoyed by is that the NHB Civic appears to be a bird cr*p magnet. More bird cr*p has landed on my new car since I got it 3 weeks ago than I have endured in my 11 years of driving!
Couldn't Honda have built-in some kind of anti-bird device to stop them flying over my car? Or come up with some clever design that means bird cr*p will just flow off without leaving a mark, like the water off the back window without the need for a wiper... |

That was quick, you got a picture of my car!! See how the bird cr*p made it look like an old Merc!! You'd have thought Honda would've got that angle covered...

Today was my 4th day running/wiping! Both at home & at work. Beyond a cr*pping joke now.
This evening's was just on glass tho so I am leaving it for the rain to deal with overnight. They never cr*pped so much on the '97 model... Last edited by apemonkeyman; 22nd February 2007 at 23:28. |

I've got plenty falling on Millie.
That's why I went for the 'Diamond Seal' - every little helps! The phone lines to Harding Towers go right over where she is parked. The bird chorus in the mornings are complimeted by me and Lady H. banging on the lounge window!! I've asked BT to shift the offending lines but they weren't very cooperative! My wifes Civic 1.8SE is NHB. I wiped off some birds mess the other day(it had only been on the car several hours) and it had marked the paintwork. I managed to polish it out with Autoglem. I never had this problem with our Jazz be for. Is the paint work soft on Civics?

There are numerous posts on this site bemoaning the thin paint found on many new Civics. Mostly this seems to be being blamed on the fact paints now have to be water-based due to some arse in Brussels not liking people getting high at work for free.
Doesn't surprise about the damage caused by the bird poo - regardless of the damage, no bird gets to cr*p on my car & have a 2nd date! |

Yes the birds love my car as well, unfortunately this is made worse every time I go to work, all the antenna's and stuff. Literally hundred of them. Luckily the powerwash is handy and I can wash it off before i go home!

On my previous vehicle, I parked under a tree, left the vehicle for about 3 -4 hours on an evening out.
Came back to find the car covered from bonnet badge to boot lid, driver and passenger front windows plus doors (missed the rears), windscreen, front bumper, roof and bonnet. The stuff was like mortar/cement and went all plastic/play-doh when I cleaned it off the following day (it peeled more than washed off). Solution was Dettol and a jet wash, plus gloves. Happy to say the car that was underneath also turned to crap not long after and now I have a Civic...! |
