No responce on inserting the key

I just poped down to my local garage to fill up this morning. I removed the key filled up, then on re inserting the key I had no responce from the car electrics @ all. After removing and re inserting the key for a good 10 min I gave up and pushed the car off the forcourt. Then resigned myself to calling the AA, but tried one more time and everything spung to life, started ok and has been ok for the last 10 starts. I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem or if I should contact the dealer to get the car checked as it only has 600 miles on the clock.

I would get it checked.
It could have been the immobiliser preventing the startup.

My Laguna used to do that, I hope you have more look with Honda than I had with Renault, had it taken to garage on back of AA truck "not starting" absolutley lifeless when card was inserted, took it to garage, they tried, nothing. Plugged the computer in.............. "nothing wrong with it mate, computer says its fine"

Computer says no!

I have had problems with dead zones in car parks where the remote key did not work and had to manually lock/open the car door. This could be related to the same problem where the electrics of the pumps are interfering with the key codes. Might be worth raising it with the garage in case they have had other instances.

Funny you should say that, when I pushed it from under the forcourt canopy all worked fine.

Could be interference from the pumps, etc.

Today I watched news on polish moto channel called "TVNTurbo". According to this Honda Poland has started recall action for all 5-door Civics (it was not specified with what engine) which were sold in Poland. It was annouced that there might be a problem with ignition so you can not start engine. All new Civic owners in Poland will receive a letter with invitation to a free of charge service. When I call Honda Poland CS tommorow I will ask them for more details. I suppose that it should affect new Civics all over Europe unless a worst quality cars were sold only in Poland. More info to follow when I get more news from Honda Poland CS.

I think that might be linked to the fuel pump recall BG has mentioned.
Looks like an easy one to find if the car won't start

Well, i had a similar problem. After the first ride out of the saloon, on the second ignition all electronics went dead. I was suspecting there is something wrong with the battery, so poped up the hood and checked. The problem was that on one pole of the battery(acumulator?) the wire wasn't tightened at all (to the pole), therefore it was loosing contact. So, it was a 10 second fix and off i went
