Cleaning bungs

Been in dealers today ( Honda web site suggested I need a recall) and checked 2 new cars in the showroom... all bungs fitted.
Does using the doors make a difference? Mine was in the rear off side door which I do not use very often. Perhaps opening the door causes the flap to flap and clear the dirt etc.
I agree, impossible to fit upside down.

Don't think it was designed like that. What was the basic idear???? They were better of spending that money on other specs or acc.

Checked mine today after the weekend floods (Type-S picked up Fri), both doors have the first bung removed, but the other two are still there.

Hmmm.... very strange. When I checked (with the first wash), the holes on the far end of the hinges on all 4 doors didn't have them . So removed in total 8 of them.

I understand that some had 12....

Still.....I 'm curious about TC's pictures...of the inside of the doors that is

Almost the same as me. Both front doors had the first bung removed (leaving two more in place) and the rear doors had no bungs removed at all!
Needless to say, as I don't find the sound of sloshing water soothing, they've all been removed and binned!

Very interesting to look at. I hope the dealer didn't look strange to see you moving around with a camera...

I picked up a new Civic on August 10th and it had no bungs in any doors.
According to the dealer it came that way from the factory.

As I said my dealer told me to remove all bungs as advised by HUK.

My new (to me) Mar/April 07 car collected on Saturday has all 3 bungs fitted in all 4 doors and no sign of any water collection. Anyone know if these have been modified yet if they aren't working properly?

Same here. Collected the car feb -07, with bungs.
Found no water yet, but now its raining heavy so I should find something if I got a problem.
Please remind me to check the bungs when I leave work at 1600 CET

I would still remove all the bungs completely.

Even though the majority of the water may be draining OK there is still an area around each bung which clogs up with muck. The water can only drain down to the bottom of the rubber flap.

I had a small circle of dirt around each door drain hole when I removed mine.

indeed it's for the door itself the best thing to remove the flaps. I mean in case of lifetime

Yes - they just pop out very easily, no tools neccessary.

When you do you may see the small build up of dirt behind them.

i just removed mine at the weekend and to be honest was horrified at the amount of gunk and water being held in by these bungs. would rather get wet feet once in a while than have a load of gloopy gunk held inside my doors slowly while they slowly rust away. stuck the hose in and gave it a blast and got far too much dirt and gunk out - anyone want to buy a set of bung hole thingys give me a shout mine are not going back in!!
