That's a new TC !
Maybe you should do a "Class Action" Trying to coordinate the sending of letters to Honda Japan, so they will be aware that there is something wrong with Honda UK ! |

Peter.. I had a similar problem with my local honda dealer I guess salesmen arent like they used to be they dont appear to care if you buy a car or not. Me and my partner assumed it was because we look young (hes 41 and I'm 29 but we look a lot younger HOORAY!). The lad I saw at my local dealer firstly wouldnt give me a guide price for my part ex until I agreed to buy a car, (how do I know which model to budget for until I know how much my car is worth?) then he told me I couldnt have glass roof and leather together on any model, he also said I couldnt have HID's or front fogs unless I had the sport which he didnt know doesnt have leather!
The worst place of all was the local ford dealer we were totally ignored in favour of a couple wanting to take out a focus which is older than my current car the salesmen looked at us like we couldnt afford a KA let alone the 19k we were looking to spend! Oh and the Renault one where the saleswoman took offense when I said I didnt like the Megane shakin that ass back - apparently you dont see it when you drive it! No but I see it on my driveway everyday! She neglected to point out the estate which I was interested in doesnt have the "ass" when I mentioned it she showed me a really old clapped out thing without even unlocking the doors. In all I've been to loads of garages over the last few months and the best one was Honda Bristol (Cribbs Causeway) where I ordered my car. Last edited by Obo; 22nd March 2007 at 01:07. |

When I was looking at Volkswagen as an option before purchasing the Civic, I went to the local dealer, I test drove the Golf Plus, I had to go the route that he said which was basically around the block and then sat for 3 hours going through all the paperwork, all their financial services (even though I was a cash buyer) he took mine for a test drive, said the clutch seemed stiff (the car was seven years old what was he expecting)?
Anyway he said he would call me with a price as he needed to discuss it with his sales manager, After a few days I called him and said I would like to take the car out again but this time on a longer route and down the A40 to get a feel for the car, he reluctantly agreed, the atmosphere in the car was quite tense I got the impression that he didnt think I was a serious buyer (maybe because I was a woman). To cut a long story short he wouldnt give me a price unless I said I would definately buy it, when I called an spoke to his sales mananger to complain he put me on hold, came back to the phone and said "are you actually going to make a decision this year" !! |

It wouldnt have been so bad but it was only a period of two weeks and I told them it would be easier to make a decision if I knew what price they would give me - pompous idiots |

I agree, Honda Bristol (both locations) were very good, gave me the time to look around, not hurried in any way, did things in my time rather than theirs.

Interesting thread, and I agree, it's shocking how customers get treated when commission is at stake. I used to work at an electrical retailer and it was cut-throat over sales there - and you would only get about £5 for selling a £500 stereo!
I hope you get somewhere with your complaint Peter. I must admit the only experience I have had with Kettering Honda is some years ago when the salesman couldn't seem to understand the words 'just looking' - the two Civics I have had I have bought from Avonvale Honda in Northampton, and I use Marshall's of Peterborough for servicing because it's near where I work, and I have had no problems with either of them. |

Honda have replayed to my second letter offering me a free service, and a cheque for £100 for the spare wheel, the most upsetting part is they did not read my second letter properly, i stated that i wanted a letter of apology from Kettering Honda . i have now sent a third letter asking the director to deal with my complaint.to get me my letter. hopefully the will send me a sorry letter . honda HONDA CIVIC civic 2.2 ICDI 2.2icdi EX ex galaxy grey hondauk honda uk www.honda uk Honda (UK) civic 2.2i cdi Last edited by Pottsy; 15th April 2007 at 22:07. I have to say peter that think you have gone over the top with this and Honda at this moment in time are probably wondering what all the fuss is about. O.K so the showroom in Kettering was rude and offered extremly poor service - at the end of the day this really has nothing to do with Honda Honda U.K or Honda Japan ( The showroom is not owned by Honda) and so they can only ask the showroom to apoligise and not actually force them into doing so even though the service you received may have dented your opinion of Honda slightly I have worked in the Customer relations for years and know what I expect and know who should do what etc and I think Honda have done nothing wrong - it is the firm who owns the showroom ( whoever it is) that is at fault and this is who you should be talking to trading standards about ( no doubt Honda will have letters on board - but they cannot really apoligise on behalf of the showroom they can just give the showroom a boot up the backside ( so to speak) and sorry but to have posted what happened anywhere apart from Civinfo is just wrong Sorry Peter I do not mean to be rude in any shape or form but as I mentioned I have been in customer services for years and looking at your situation I would not have done some of the things you have ( but would hopefully received an apology from the showroom by now P.M also sent |

No, I think you have said what alot of us are thinking! It's been said before in this thread, but life's too short!
Peter, the apology will just be words (Unlees you are expecting some sort of compensation, which I doubt you will get!). The best way to get at them, is tell eveyone who admires you new Civic about your experiences with that dealer and have the satisfaction of knowing they will be losing business! |
