mines a MR and when the suns out you can see swirls, this is from the cleaning and waxing, you will not stop this, unless you can do a no contact clean. silver is the best colour for not showing swirls as i never noticed any on my last car. i now use micro fibre clean sponge and polishing cloths. as long as no scratches are visable when the suns not shining then i wouldnt worry...to much.

Hi guys,
Thanks for you comments. The swirl marks are very harsh and compacted over most of the car, they are not lite cobweb type marks that you can just pick out in the sunlight. The bonnet looks terrible under the street lamp at night. I will try and get a photo and post it up.Totally not acceptable on a new vehicle. These marks are what you expect to see on a 3 year old car that has gone through the car wash. Honda HQ are calling me in the morning.

Simon.

the street lamps are very good at picking these out as well, but i would describe mine as cobwebs/swirls which you can only see when the suns out. i would get the dealer to restore it to the factory finish if its that bad.

Unfortunately I noticed a brand new black civic in the showroom had swirl marks and cobwebs all over it. Black and dark blue are notorious for showing these. You can have them polished out, but unless you keep the car undercover and dont drive it they will soon come back.

Swirl marks are a fact of life unfortuantly. Honda paint is particularly bad for them espicailly in a dark colour. When I got rid of my dark blue EP2 Civic SE Sport it was covered in them (plus lots of stonechips!), and I always hand washed using a wash mit, two buckets of water etc etc.

My new car Silver - its a great colour for hiding swirls. I don't think I could cope with a dark colour again - or Honda paint!

Reject the car under the Consumer Act, stating that it is not of merchant-able quality. You are within your rights to do that. They must give you another car or a full refund.

I had this problem on my dark blue Discovery but have solved it nicely by using Meguires 3 component system, not only got rid of the marks but left the car with a much deeper finish as well. Did it all by hand in less than a day and wasn't too heavy going.

Hi,
Haven't been on here for a while but I have finally had the problem resolved at Bristol Honda after many weeks of effort I won the battle and they admitted it was there fault. After all that they only offered me the £200.00 back that I paid for the supagard. Terrible service. Honda UK have not offered any compensation or even a letter of apology from the garage.

I wish I'd known this before I ordered at Bristol, I'm going over my new car with a fine tooth comb on pickup.

Hope you get the cheque soon Simon
