sco - I do agree that (in particular) the fuel cap should never have been an issue. We'll skip over the whole issue of how soon it came to light and if Honda could have been expected to test a fuel cap release over the course of several months.
But yes, it wasn't good.

However - it's still (by a long way) the biggest fault which people are ticking.
I would imagine that pretty much everyone (on here) has either had it fixed by now, or at very least knows it can be, just have decided not to yet.

Potentially there is a large group of owners out there who have yet to find us that might still be struggling - but I would hope that anyone complaining about it to their dealer would get it fixed very quickly.

Where is all my rambling going?

I think that if we go to press with the biggest issue being fuel caps, Honda will laugh their socks off

On the down side, an uneducated glance at the stats by someone who doesn't know the background would think 'oh my god, I've got a 65% chance of being stranded at a petrol station!' - which is not really the case.

I have only ticked the poor paint, because it is a real problem and they will not solve under guarantee (that's the dealer last word). I also have the anoying noise of the clutch but I think they will solve it so I don't tick that one. The rest of the problems, I don't have them/are not important to me.

Edit: the pictures of my bonnet with 6 months.... the bonnet was worst than it can be appreciated in the picture as very small constelations of stonechips are not visible in the picture but are there. I imagine I have to post the pictures here since the other thread is closed ¿??

Agreed - we may seem a bit grumpy in this forum. Strange, since I love this car.
Part of the explanation I believe is that the forum users have a very high consciousness about their baby, and will notice about everything, then start to wonder and ask questions, (just like it was a real baby).
My wife would find it unthinkable to spend as much as a second on a car forum - she regards a car purely as a mean of transportation. If the fuel cap doesn't work, she'll just call at the dealer and have them fix it. Period.

You can certainly count me in with any magazine publicity against Honda. See my thread "who can make the longest list" for a summary of my problems. The car has even been back to Honda UK recently - with no resolution of some problems!

Given that every single Civic in production up until a couple of months back had a fuel cap that almost certainly will stick at some point, combined with people clicking for problems which have been fixed - I'm surprised it's only 85%...

hmmm, now i'm not sure.
I'm quite up for the mag, because I don't want any more Civics on the road, I want to be special. But on the other hand I really don't want to complain that much, the paint issue is the only one I'd say is an issue because the dealer won't fix it, everything else has been fixed quite painlessly on mine!

I have only had the car for 6 or 7 weeks and have had no problems at all,but with you talking about going to press i am a bit concerned about the residual value of my lovely car. So should i sell it now before you commit hara-kiri on behalf of a small percentage!

Honda are fixing the vast majority of faults.

Fuel caps - fixed
Shocks - fixed
Creaky windows - fixed
Just about every item on the list is easily fixed by a simple visit to the dealers.

The ones that are questionable are the paint durability, which is certainly no worse than any other new car I have had recently and the radio. The radio is 100% better in this car than it was in my Clios or my current Corsa, so again I don't see the issue.

Apart from giving our cars bad publicity, what will this acheive? Honda aren't going to suddenly replace all of our cars. If the goal is to put people off, why? I have had a good number of the faults listed, but they have all been fixed and I could not be happier with my purchase.
I would still recommend the car to people and don't want to put people off.

I have to say that I'm with Bungle. I've had a few minor niggles, which is not unexpected for an early build of an entirely new car. All have been fixed by the dealer, and I'm left with a tremendous car with possibly the finest engine and gearbox I've ever driven.

I take a different view, a problem is a problem whether it gets fixed or not. I didn't spend a lot of money on a new car to have endless trips to the dealers. I said this before but in 45 years driving secondhand and new cars I have been back to the dealers once only, yes ONCE. Now the Civic, maybe ten times in ten months, something is wrong with the quality of this car.

I agree, and how many people have had things fixed only to have the same problem a few weeks later?

If we all had just one or two things go wrong then fair enough, but to have such a wide variety of issues is just unacceptable especially when there is no back up from some dealerships or Honda UK.

It is possible that this kind of bugs is more likely to happen with an entirely new design than with an old dull one. It reminds me of the citroens i've driven with wonderful new design which not always turned out to be well proven.
And I feel that this is a low price to pay compared to be stuck with for example a Corolla for the next years....

Just a remark, By adding the "no problem" option the % results are not good anymore because you can tick more than one option... because for the samecar you can have more than one problem.
I know I'm a little bit late, but it would have been more "accurate" to do a second Poll with only two options : car with or without problem.
This one is perfect to identified the recurent problems on the civic but it give a wrong info about the figures of cars without problems. I.e. Topcat civic count for 11 and mine for 1... Os that stat figures for No problem car is more confusing than relevant.
