Agreed
Even though mine has the official factory HFT fix, in my case it was still hopeless but I have fixed it myself. Therefore currently I don't have a problem. (apart from I wish the i-shift would change from 1st to 2nd earlier) Job therefore is to devise a system where we can add a problem to the appropriate area and have the facility to remove it when fixed. |

Sorry if I said this before but the poll is "what problems have you had" not "what problems do you have". I do not find it acceptable for Honda or any other manufacturer to be slipshod about quality control and then fix any problems at my time and inconvenience.
I worked for a company that adopted this approach to manufacturing, churn them out and replace the faulty ones. When a customer then required the very best quality, the company found that it was no longer capable of it. |

I fully agree that it is not right for any company to let their customers be the beta testers. However - if the poll was "what problems have you had" and had been run 3 months ago, 100% of respondants would tick "fuel cap". Whilst it was not right that Honda gave us a car which was difficult to put fuel into - it wouldn't really have much relivance to anything today. Finding out what the current problems are - fine, and I can see the point. But the number one fault people have ticked is still "fuel cap" - what are we expecting Honda to do, exactly, when the story goes to press with that as the leading fault? Will they retospecively give all Civic owners £50 for the inconvenience? Don't think so. Will they go "Wahey - fantastic PR opportunity here!" and reply with "Honda have taken onboard the concerns raised here, and are pleased to announce that as of Jan '07, all new Civics have been fitted with an extra spring in the cap". "Furthermore, any owners of older Civics are invited to attend their local Honda dlr, where the modification will be fitted free of charge". Which will also let them ignore all the other current faults being raised, by simply stating: "Honda are now aware that some owners are experiencing other issues, and we thank you for bringing them to our attention". "Unfortunately, we have been busy sorting out the main problem of fuel caps, but please be assured that we will now start looking at the other issues". 1 chance - blown. |

To quote from the letter they sent to me;
"Honda is committed to the customers of its products and strives to deal with any queries or complaints from customers thoroughly and constructively"!! How many people have complained about the radio? This was Honda's response to my query; "Your concerns with the radio have been noted and passed both to our product teams and to the manufacturers of the radio unit for consideration. Should they feel that this issue requires rectification then our customers will be notified appropriately. Unfortunately I am unable to speculate on time frame as the issues do not relate to poor product technical performance" I was told a year ago that Honda knew they had a problem and was trying to find a solution, then I was told again by a HUK Manager who I met at Ruislip in November that they were aware of the problems.! All lies lies lies. Maybe the issue going to the media should be more about how HUK are NOT dealing with the problems rather than the problems themselves. How many people have had, fuel filler, tailgate, shocks, radio and other fixes done only for them to go again? |

It is a GOOD idea to bring up problems that are outstanding that HUK are apparently doing nothing about.
It will be a BAD/pointless idea to raise issues that HUK have dealt with. This poll is named towards airing grievances with HUK. Therefore I believe this poll flawed in airing things HUK have dealt with. Any campaign may stand a chance of success *IF* only outstanding problems (radio quality/paint quality etc) are included in the "airing". Otherwise, those fronting it will be made look like lemons by HUK's PR team... & Nicky Campbell won't give it the air time. |

TTDegs,
I take your point about the filler cap problem completely skewing what might be read into the results. For me, polls are like opinion surveys, never seem to ask the questions you want to answer, and are always open to misinterpretation. Worse still, without fail I am always in the minority, which I am happy to believe just proves I'm right. |

When i say other, my boot door was not centered, also i have a coloured spolier. This is not good as the clip on teh left hand side of the spoiler has made a nice chip on the side of the boot.

I'd be nice to see the poll result against the manufacturing date. That would perhaps show if things are improving, staying the same or getting worse.
No sure if the Forum software can handle a poll cross-referenced against a date. And we would all have to re-enter our problems including the date. |

Hi Guys - seems to me to be a good idea for the forum to monitor 'problems' in some sort of numerical manner - (recognising not every one will use it) it surely gives us better amunition (e.g. when dealing with HUK/dealers). However the object should not be to put people off or to give the motor press the opportunity to write negative press, rather to make us better informed. Perhaps therefore it is better to keep emotion out of it.
However, can I suggest that part of this ought to be to track problems by year of manufacture (or even by the plate number - i.e. half year of manufacture). That way we would potential 'see' emerging issues but also track the removal of problems from the newer cars (i.e. nobody is reporting a particular problem after a particular plate/year). Shouldn't the smashed Fog lights issue should be added to the list? How about adding such a poll (perhaps re-designed) to the quick links. Every sympathy with the poll creator, it is virtually impossible to get a poll of this sort right first time. PS - When discussing numbers of people using this poll, don't forget that not all site members have a Civic - I for one have joined this site because it is such a good source of info to inform a buying decision and therefore I can't vote. Indeed the existence of such a forum is in my view a big plus as a potential Civic owner. I'm a realist, every new car mark will have some issues - it is not that some get through the design and manufacture process that is truely important it is how they are dealt with that will mark out the good manufacturer. The forum seems to demonstrate some success by Honda in making the list grow shorter. |

water in the doors, Fuel cap and the ABS/VSA light come on and the Dealer changed the battery under warenty.
Guess what?. Drove out of the dealers and the lights come on again. Drove straight back and they come out with a pc laptop to conect to the car and it was the brake switch. So a new battery for nothing. Not that I am complaining. |

I'm going to get called a pedant for this, but there are two spelling mistakes in the poll list. If this information is going forward for publication, I suggest they need correcting so that the author cannot be accused of having 'faults' too by whoever is reading it.
