The poor paint is the big problem for me as they don't seem to have a fix, just touch up kits.

Whilst I've had both HFT and fuel cap issues - both have been fixed...

Might it be worth an option for 'none' and / or 'some but now fixed'?

Hi Sco77Harris

My main problem on delivery was the poor standard of trim condition. I ended up having to clean parts of the dashboard because it had some sort of glue on it. Also the plastic above the instrument binacle had an embeded mark on it which I tried to make a warranty claim but Honda wouldn't agree. So I polished it out myself.

My fuel cap will be fixed next week. While the car is cold (2-3 min after start in the morning) some instrument panel may rattle a bit when i pass some VERY bad tram tracks. No rattles a couple of minutes later when the car start to warm up though.

ok so far we have 20 quite prominent faults, some of which are still unsolved, the matter is that even on early models the shear number of faults is unacceptable

p.s keep up the input the more people we have the bigger the fuss we can make and hopefully gain some good - at least a free service for all

lol maybe ojne of the moderators can add it in

as it happens i think my new one is reasonable solid, maybe the odd piece of trim that is unpleasing but compared to my old one, a massive improvement, but people shouldnt have to buy a new one to solve their issues

Can I just clarify though please?

Obviosuly a lot of people have ticked the 'fuel cap' box.

and certainly while I had that particular problem, it was a pain.

But now that there is a (pretty much) widely available and official fix, should we be ticking it if we have had the work done?

It just seems like it might be a bit of a waste if the article goes out with a list of faults, and Honda reply with "a fix for the biggest problem - sticking fuel cap - has been available for several months"...

Boxes ticked, plus
creaking floorpan required welding,
weak pressure in tailgate struts when cold,
misaligned door,
occasionally difficult to start.

Worst are the shear number of rattles, pops, creaks, resonances, etc.

So if I were considering changing my 2007 Focus for a Type S GT due to some annoying rattles, I should really look elsewhere?

The Civic, even if it ain't all sorted out yet, it will still be the best option.

Had mine for nearly a year now and and still can't get that smile off my face!

i think the general oppinion is the worst has passed (early models always suffer, apparently just ours did a lot more lol) and despite what i encounterd i would choose the civic again as i did and i am so glad and take pleasure in every moment in it

i know the fuel cap has been fixed but lets face it, it must be the most obscene fault to have and they took their time fixing it

the best was probably about a magazine someone mentioned where the brake snapped off lol

As far as I know Charles that indicates that it has not identified you have the brake pedal pressed ? quote from Kremmen

I nearly put a dent in tarmac doing that!

Definite fault NOT mis-operation!

You people (and this thread) scare me. I haven't had a single problem (which isn't that strange, been driving it for just 3 weeks). But I sure hope it stays that way. I hate driving back to the dealer for anything else then servicing or picking up an S2000, New NSX or CTR-R.

I love my car too much. She won't give my any problems

69 people have voted - out of 403 viewings (though lots have probably viewed more than once!)

10 have 'no problems'
45 have said 'fuel cap' - which can be easily fixed (though agree that it shouldn't need fixing)
26 - shock absorbers. Though we don't know if this is current, or due to a whole shed load of them being fitted upside down on a lot of Civics
25 - scratched dash / trim. Fair comment really. Mine (personally) isn't, but agree that it appears too easy to do so
18 - noises from trim and air con
10 - poor paint

and then we're (currently) into single figures.

won't comment any further till we get some more numbers in
