Angry My CD player died!!

My CD player not working properly anymore.

If I put in an audio CD (brand new burned!) first two songs are fine but it does not play the rest.

At mp3 same stuff. first few folders fine and at the rest with a lot of lot of mechanical reading noise it manages to play the music..

I think my CD player must be changed.. and I afraid after diassembling the whole dash I gonna get a rattle...

(MY 07, 3500+ miles, and approx in 50% used the CD for mp3)

PTR, if it helps, after disassembling my dash I had no rattles (had a couple before I started). Just used a few bits of stick-on velvet stuff (dealers use this as anti rattle).

Does sound like the CD player is dead though. I presume it won't play a normal commercial CD as well?

Hi, I have the same problem but am worried that I may have invalidated the warranty of the car by fitting Ambient footwell lighting..

Will Honda still fix the stereo under warranty despite the non authorised work I have done?

How did you fit your own lighting? depends how you've done it.

You'll be fine. Unless they can prove that the lighting damaged the radio (pretty unlikely).

As per this thread Auto dim ambient blue lighting

2 sets of LED's with a dimmer into the headlight switched supply. As the 2 sets of LED's are next to each other you can't tell that they are different sets...

The first set of LED's is powered from the glove compartment light, the second set is taken from the overhead interior lights and run into a dimmer switch in the armrest cavity.

This gives the effect of the footwells lighting up when the doors are opened and dimming with the interior lights.
The footwells lighting up when the headlights are switched on (but not as bright, but adjustable with dimmer switch) then if the door is opened with the footwell lit (headlights on) then the footwells get brighter and then dim again with the interior lights to the low lit level..

Looks pretty good and gives the same effect as the honda ones but with a manual dimmer switch

What do you think? Should I remove this before I try to get the stereo repaired?

Cheers Pottsy, didn't see you post last night. So no need to remove the mod then? As it in no way meant i went near the cd player?

If you didn't touch the radio/cd player then you have nothing to worry about, the way you described it at first suggested you had tampered with lots of electrical things! No need to remove your mod.

just to double check - try it with a 'proper' audio CD (not one you have copied!)

and then try a different brand of blank CDs...

sounds pretty dead
but it'll be a bit embarrasing if the first thing the dlr does is chuck in a 'proper' CD and it works fine...

Problem I have is the fault only occurs after an hour or so of playing a disc!! I think I'll try some different branded CD's just to check. What discs do others use for there mp3 cd's??

I'm using Verbatim Printables which I am burning at 12x (the minimum Nero will allow on mine).

mix of Tesco own brand (cheap as!) and Phillips - no problems with either.

But then I tend to listen to the radio more than CDs...

Cheers all, what about folder depth? Could this make a difference? I burn my discs as windows media holds them so
c:\
c:\artist
c:\artist\album
c:\artist\album\track

Could this cause the problem? How do others set up the disc file structure?

PS. I have an EX so its easy to use with the above mentioned format. (when it works!!)
