Leaking Rear Window
We had a couple of thunderstorms recently which showed up a significant leak, with water dripping from the trim behind the join between the upper and lower glass areas on the rear door. I had seen the problem before, but had put it down to drips when the boot was opened.
This is temporarily resolved by a tarpaulin in the boot with newspaper on top to soak up the puddles. The problem is that there is a fault in the bonding between the two halves of the window, so the glass must be re-bonded. This means that I will need a courtesy car for three days (drop car in the day before, full day for the repair, collect car next day) Apparently this is not the first Civic with this problem at my local dealer, so it looks like it may be another bit of poor quality control by Honda |

As a fairly irrelevant but related aside, have you driven your Civic while wearing polarised sunglasses. There are some really interesting stress patterns in the lower part of the rear window.

I have just noticed this on my Civic (ironically just before I dropped it off at the dealers to have the petrol cap release fixed).
Looks like I'm going to have to book it in again which is the third time in 4 months, I am not amused and definitely one of the worst new cars I have ever owned for design/build faults. |

Mines gone into the dealer today (different one to usuall) - but we're now into double figures with dealer visits!!! (I think - lost count!).
The lower section of the boot (under the flap) was soaking, also had condensation in the rear light. First noticed a problem last week when I got more water than usual soaking me when opening the boot - then came out from the inner handles (used to close the boot) when boot was opened! Heavy rain over the weekend and now I have a damp smelling car! Totally not impressed. |

I had a fold in a 10 cm long section in the black sealingstrip between the two halves. I saw the worksheet at the dealer and they had attached a drawing of the rear door with an exploded view of all the parts. And the repair didn't take half a day. |

Since reading on here a while back about leaking boots I have checked my car every time it has rained heavy - not that I am paranoid or anything

Well, am I fed up with this car now!!
Apparently had the leak fixed at the Redhill Honda dealer a few weeks ago (see post above). Now I have a more soaked boot (hidden well by the fact that it's in the lower compartment that's not often opened) with mold growing (and smelling). It's going in to Southampton on Monday - but they don't have a car to lend me (wonder if the courtesy cars are being used a lot more since the new Civic was launched??) so it won't be repaired until who knows when!! Honda don't seem to realise that we can't be late for work or leave work early all the time to frequent the dealers! Hope Southampton can do a better / permanent job! It's also having the fuel cap looked at again (4th time!!!), the "string" holding the rear parcel shelf has snapped, I still have a dashboard rattle, but at least the HFT now works!!! Going to talk to Honda UK again on Monday - as far as I'm concerned they can have the car back for good! |

See my recent post under "Warning do not expect the radio to work (merged)"
You are not alone in getting really fed up with Honda's indifference and shoddy cheap ineffective fixes to customer's concerns |

I've had this one fixed, it was the first one they had seen in Aberdeen and it was in the garage in bits for 3 WEEKS!!! while they waited for parts. No courtesy car either (it was only supposed to be in for a day or two) until I had a serious tantrum and they "lent" me a car for the first weekend. I gave up after that, I'm less stressed without the car.
They said it was something to do with the sealer not sticking to a short section that hadn't been degreased properly in the factory. Over time it was lifting and so allowing water in. They sent some very fuzzy pictures to Honda. It seems okay with regard to the water, but now when I open the boot something rattles its way down (up?) the offside pillar, and rattles down when I close it - but at least as a side effect the boot now shuts first time - I have to start counting the small things as victories otherwise I'd cry more. |

Moisture collects there on my car. I have had a look, and it is not getting passed the seal. Therefore it is not really any problem, and I won't bother worrying one bit about it unless any symptoms get worse i.e. plants start growing out of there or something.
