I am completely fed up, since purchasing the New Honda Civic in Jan 2006 (one of the first ones made) We (my husband and I) have had no end of trouble.
The tow bar clips were not flush and had to be replaced A metal part of the chair came away We have had 2 new fuel flaps The interior head lining has come up My front mud flaps had to be taken off as they were being ripped off when driving over ramps The product recall New boot strets Continuely filling it up with oil Oh and the latest.....wait for it I have rust!!!!! Honda have rejected it against the warranty as the rust is from the outside in and they only cover from inside out. I am completly hacked off big time this car has caused so much stress. It looks nice but is plagued with issues. Has anyone else had problems like these? I think it is on the first models made any suggestions?? |

RUST already??? is it on a scratch/stonechip? You could try reporting your problems to HUK, not sure how far you will get I also had a scratched dash, faulty rear shocks, handbrake that had to be pull up hard and very stiff gear change from 1st to 2nd when engine was cold. Most faults were refered to as " A characteristic of the car" I ended up changing my 06 5 door for a 07 CTR. New car is perfect... I hope your able to sort yours out, Be very assertive with HUK and take down the advisors name and time/date of your call...Good luck |

Hi.
What faults have you got that haven't now been fixed by the dealer? And do you have a photo of the rust - that would be interesting. |

Nothing else major with mine but the Wife is in the process of having her alloys replaced as the lacquer has peeled off. We both still love the cars though. |

My old man was talking to someone the other day who said he was involved in supplying and maintaing robots that build cars. It turns out his robots buld Fords and Hondas.
My father then told him that I have a new Civic. Apparantly the guy got really enthusiastic about the quality of Hondas compared to most other manufacturers, and that he really rated the Civic highly. It also came up that I had a few problems (most of the above list) to which he said "all new models have some teething problem, and the Civic is better than most new cars. As far as (he) know(s), they have only been minor niggles, and nothing serious." I can't put it better. |

I had planned a replacement of the fuel cap, but suddenly it started to function well, so I called the replacement off.
I also had a slight problem with dashboard panel rattling several places, but the panels have bedded in and silenced completely. So, it seems that a bit patience is needed. My pride is now three months old, with a mileage of nearly 4000 km. |

I do actually believe that the majority of faults with the Civic are only minor but the experience is made worse by poor customer service experience from both dealers & HUK, given most woeful tales told on this forum.
Most things are fixed quickly & easily once the right technician has seen the problem... unfortunately paint does not seem to be in this category. Now that Cheltenhamshire's car's interior is actually getting rebuilt by Swindon after Amethyst Cheltenham finally fixed his vibrations but rebuilt the interior badly, there is every hope his will be a good 'un. My own experiences with Amethyst Gloucester, although comparatively minor, have left me distrustful of them. Obo's pre-delivery experience of Cribbs; Top Cat's experience of dealing with HUK... it's customer service that is rotten in these cases (as well as some paint)... fuel filler caps got fixed eventually with the proviso that you pressure the spring clip to ensure it latches the right way; boot struts & shocks get replaced on request - mine work fine since the weather warmed up. These are pretty minor & I think HUK & dealers should take care not to tarnish Honda's reputation with ****** attitude towards the people who buy their products. To only have unaddressed problems with paint on most cars is probably not too bad a record. Mismanagement of complaints, even minor ones, seem to be doing much more damage to people's views & satisfaction. What other faults are there across a lot of Civics that are not fixed on demand? I'm sure I've missed some - can't be arsed at the mo to refer back to Sco's poll - but most problems are addressed, reasonably effectively - it sometimes just takes a while for HUK or the right person at your dealer to take notice. I am now going to climb into my flame-proof suit before submitting this post because I know there are going to be some who misread this post & flame away before getting the point. |

I agree.
A company can only really be judged by the way it deals with problems. In my case, they got dealt with fine. Others have not been quite so lucky. At the end of the day, the car is not perfect, but it's bloody good! There are more important things in the world, like what to get in for dinner tonight- chinese or indian? |

Just to say it was not Amethyst mechanics putting the interior back badly but the bodyshop who fixed up the roof after Swindon did not build it properly.
Mine was a proper Friday afternooner but it will soon be in a fit state....1 year after purchase. When and if you ever get to deal with some of the higher up bods in HCS you will find them to be pleasant chaps. My car goes back to Swindon next Wednesday and I will be rolling in a new CRV diesel for a couple of weeks. Scary thing is my wife really wants one of those so I am gonna have to lie and say they gave me a Jazz and park it around the corner! I can't afford a £22k SUV!! |

The Fuel Flappy thing made the vehicle the centre of amusement on my visits to the pumps. I called my matie at the stealers and he suggested that I should bring it in as he'd got loads of spring things in to rectify the fault. At the stealers the Flappy thing never failed on testing!!! 'twas modified anyway. I reckon that Millie has been 'extra' clean of late and that included the opening of the flap to clean in there as well. Maybe that's another answer. Having made 9 trips to my dealer in one year I sense that they are as peeved as I am. OK they may be trying their best but clearly the service receptionists don't appreciate that we the Customers purchased Honda on reputation for reliability and quality. We do not expect to go back more than the service interval. We are not treated as Customers but as individuals out to sploil their day. Just once I would like to hear an apology from my dealer on behalf of Honda UK. Who knows it may even influence my decision as to my next purchase.
Am I the only one who feels like this ? |

If you take a look around this forum you will know you are not the only person who feels this way.
Every new design of car has its teething troubles. The thing that makes the big difference to us customers is how the dealer &/or HUK handle our faults & whether they respond in an effective & apologetic manner. There are many tales of woe, but also many tales of joy on this forum. If you look for the negative in everything you will find a lot to be negative about. Truth is that a massive majority of faults are ready to be fixed with just a few that HUK seem to be blind to. Try to balance this with some tales of how much the car is enjoyed & that many have found dealers who work well for them & you find the pessimism will lift... depending upon your own experiences of course. |
