Worn seat

Cleaning my pride and joy the other day I noticed there was a bit of wear on the side of the drivers seat. My seats are black on the upper surfaces and grey on the sides. The bit affected is the side close to the driver's door. It looks as if something is about to come through the material from the inside.

I mentioned it to the dealers, they took a photo of it, sent it off to HQ and later contacted me to arrange to have the seat recovered.

Anyone else noticed the same problem?

can you imagine how much trouble honda is going to start getting i didnt do much mileage on my 1.4 but you could see the wear and i would suggest leather is a good option especially due tothis

I have been concerned about the seat material from day one, it looks old and worn very quickly

Leather was an absolute for me anyway and when I saw the civic I realised that there's no way I could cope with these seats, they look super nice new but I can imagine they get fluffy and worn looking quickly!

Have to admit leather would be better, at the moment don't have a problem, seats look fine but are a devil to keep pristine

I could tell after a few weeks that the velour seats would become tatty; that's why I went to Transform Leather and had their bespoke leather fitted. No problem now (or tomorrow!).

Hi Pete1899.......... I had same problem on both front seats seems the stitching on the seat belts did the damageon mine. The dealer will only replace the seat cover. But once done check to see that the seat backs are fitted correctly. Once the plastic clips have been sprung once they do not refit properly. Ensure your dealer fits new clips when he replaces covers.

Good luck

If This Is Where The Wear Is, Ive Fitted Some Black Wrap Round Pads Around The Stitching In The Seat Belt. The Pads Are What You Can Put Over Your Seat Belts Like The Chavs Have,, But They Do And Excellent Job Of Stopping The Seat Belt Wearing The The Seat Away.

Worn seat

Thanks for the response - you're quite right, the seat belt stitching is causing the wear. I wonder if Honda will sort the root cause of the problem out by doing something about the belt as well as replacing the seat cover?

Have attached a picture to show anyone interested the problem more clearly.

For some reason it doesn't happen on all seats. To stop it happening you can get the pads in Halfords. If you don't fit these the seats will wear again. Perhaps Honda should provide some fancy ones with a civic logo as by now have quite a picture gallery. Although as with many problems both Honda and the dealers prefer to stick their heads in the sand and try to ignore their Customers. Just when will someone from Honda UK apologise just once for the problems we have experienced.

yep thats what i have less than a year old and only 6k. ive fitted the pads about 4 weeks ago and are doing the job of saving the seat.

looks like this will go along the same road as the filler cap problem. new seats for everyone at 3 years?? i will have the leather option

Checked mine yesterday after seeing the photo.

Mines OK.

My belt doesn't rub the seat because I've got the seat quite a way back. I would imagine that a seat pushed forward could cause the belt to rub the side ala photo.

Yeah I checked mine also, the belt hardly touches the seat.
