Exclamation Water and more water

All right I know its wrong, but I am one of the minority that still smoke, and I like to have a cig on the way to work, however when its raining and I open the window to flick the ash out I get bl—dy soaked, is this something that only happens with cars fitted with the glass roof? Or does it happen with a tin top. It’s a bit concerning as the window buttons could get water in them and who knows what that could do.

I get this on mine too (no I don't smoke) but sometimes even when it's raining it's nic eto have the window open. I have considered fitting wind deflectors but don't know if they would make a difference.

Then the ashtray and lighter should have been a £300 option.

Am I the only one who found something amusing about a post to the effect of "whn it's raining and I open my windows, I get wet"?

I get wet wet in the Corsa too if I open the window in the rain (parking machines etc), and the Civic. And my old Civic. I blame the rain.

Is your Civic not fitted with an ashtray for you to flick your ash into? There is really no need to open the window. Thats what ashtrays are for.

Aubrey, you need to have the window open to let the smoke out.

As an ex smoker (few years ago now), I appreciate the problem. The perfect smoking car has a window that you can open a crack such that the air flow in the car goes straight out of the window (so that if you hold the cig in your right hand, all the smoke blows straight out of the window) and the air/water flow outside is such that no water blows into the car.

I'm not sure there's much you can change, since it's all to do with the car aerodynamics, mirror shape, window shape and so on. Sadly.

I thought there were vents somewhere in the car that let the air out to allow space for the fresh air to be pumped in...

I think smoking at wheel is as dangerous as using a mobile at the wheel and should be banned, people have been fined for eating at the wheel also.

Dont smoke when it rains then you wont have to open the window

Perhaps one of the mods for the next Civic is opening quarter lights. That'll take you back !!

Hi Pottsy, what I really meant was that there is really no need to throw the ash or the butt out of the window. Of course you need ventilation whilst you are smoking, not that I smoke myself.

I fitted Climair wind deflectors, they were easy to fit and work superbly well at stopping the drips and giving draught free ventilation.

Leodis, do you have the part number for these as their website is only giving details for older Civies. Thanks.
