Yet another accident.

Well, my rear passenger door just can't stop being bashed. My other half went to Tesco's to do a bit of shopping and watched, while a kamikaze lady decided that the civ needed some new sculpturing. What was amazing was that she new she was grinding away at my car, but just kept going anyway. She suggested that there wasn't much damage but when the other half looked at it there was a deep groove about 9 inches long and a secondary dent at the bottom of the door. So back to the garage it goes, (Honda Ruislip) and £1000.00 worth of damage. The garage looked at it today and decided that a re-skin of the door panel was the only way it could be repaired.

It is amazing the lack of respect some people have for others property.

I hope you get your pride and joy looking shipshape soon.

There are unfortunately a lot of drivers who have absolutely no idea how big their cars are.

Hi Civie et al

Fortunately, the woman exchanged details and her insurance company will be paying for the repair bill.

I witnessed a woman in a corsa last night outside our house trying to do a 3 point turn. She nearly came onto our lawn and then backed up and hit a car parked up on the other side of the road which obviously wobbled from the hit. She just proceeded to turn around and then fired the car on to the kerb on the corner of the road and went into a neighbours house. I think she was completely oblivious to what she had doen tbh.

She was no where near my civic thank god!!

The car she hit was funnily enough something to do with the house she visited - I bet she didn't let on tho as no-one came out and she didn't even have a sneaky look to see if she caused any damage.

Hi illegalhunter

Yes, that's fine for supermarkets but for council car parks the council will fine you under the Road Traffic Act even if you have paid for a parking ticket, its happened to me.

In my opinion that's just being plain selfish and if there is limited parking available, you're more likely to p**s people off and increase the likelihood of somebody keying your car. I most certainly don't advocate such behaviour however, I have seen it done.

Defeats the object really !

In ANY car park, I will find a space as far away as possible from the entrance to the shops or whatever to reduce the risk of dents.

Two things I see on a reglar basis absolutle baffle me.

1. People drive around for ages looking for a space near the shop entrance, then struggle to get car into space when there are plenty of spaces a 30 second walk further away.

2. When parked in a quiet end of a car park, with hardly any other cars around, why do you so often get a car parked righ up beside yours? I mean there is no reason for it!

I have nothing but sympathy. My 3 week old spaceship has acquired a scuff on the front drivers side corner. I can only assume that this happened in a carpark or while I was parked on the road, as I'm certain I'd have noticed this!

I've been so careful - choosing my spaces carefully; not risking tight parking etc.
Honda have quoted my 80-100quid for the repair. Something I really didn't need but will have to fix or it will bug me forever.!

2 possible reasons:

1. Herd mentality
2. They figure that you've parked there to avoid dings, and must therefore be a proud owner too, who is unlikely to ding theirs

Dear Charles, hope your car will be repaired and be as new as possible and that the job will be done "dans les rêgles de l'art" and that you will be satified with the result.
