Damaged leather steering wheel
I'm not a happy chappy, besides all the rattles that turn up now after only two monts (rightside of the booth, sounds like the dampers but these are already checked by Honda, leftside of the dash, left above the seatbelt) I've managed to damage my steering wheel
Due to a metal piece on one of my jeans that turned out to be a bit sharp on the edge I managed to get two serious scratches/scrapes at the bottom of my steering wheel, each about 5 centimeters long. The metal has damaged the upper layer only but enough to peel some of the leather surface off Is it possible to repair this somehow? Or does it require a total new steeringwheel, inclusing all the controls, airbag, etc. In the latter I think it's going to be VERY expensive... |

As for repairing the damage, is there any horse saddler's or any businesses like that in your area. They might be able to help you, or at least point you in the right direction. Or another idea http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/THINK-PINK-FUR...QQcmdZViewItem |

I had a similar problem with my last car, where I scuffed the leather (luckily at the bottom of the steering wheel, where it was less noticeable.)
You could try covering up the lighter bits with black shoe polish - not too much though, you don't want to make the wheel too shiny and/or slippery. Obviously this technique won't work if the scratches are too deep, although it might disguise it a bit. |

It's not that noticable, you must know it's there. But still, it's a brandnew car and it annoys me like hell! |

I was just wondering the same. Strange, very strange! It may be an idea for me not to wear my jeans that are covered in Diamontes as the claws catch everything else they may be attracted to the steering wheel.

Wearing diamonte covered jeans on leather seats would definately be a no no and if your car will have the fabric seats it will still be a no no as the material marks very easily. |

Living well out in the sticks, I know that some horse saddles can cost a fortune.
Don't mix with the horsy lot much, as I dont agree with hunting, but thats by the way. However, what a decent saddle maker can do with scuffed or torn leather, is an art. Reckon they could work out a lot cheaper than Honda. Drive in just your M&S underpants in future. |

I'll just make sure I wear something long enough to cover them while driving. |
