The two-tone horn used in the current Civic is the same that is used on many Japanese cars. The one on my last Civic sounded the same, the 1997 Nissan Primera I had before that, and IIRC even my parents' 1976 Toyota Corolla that they had back in the dark ages had a similar-sounding horn!

It's an improvement on some older Hondas. I drove a 2000 Accord a few years ago, and had to beep someone on the motorway. Now THAT was embarrassing - it sounded like the horn on a Honda 50 moped!

Hi, I also think the standard horn is pathetic. I have fitted the Stebel unit myself.

Don't be surprised if a fuse blows when you sound the horn when braking.
This was cured by upping the value of the appropriate fuse from 15-20amp, with no danger of wiring burning out.
You will know as you get a dash full of warning lights.
Regards
Tony

I'm back to the pathetic horns. I nexpect a cable has come away as I couldnt locate the mini cable connectors. (Lasted nearly a year) What I need is a mini piggy back type of connector

Does anyone know if these are generally available or a Honda bespoke fitment, they dont stock them in general motor factors!!

Surprised you need to change the fuse - cant remember what mine have as standard and I'm running all horns (orig and supplemental) off the same fuse.

Halfrauds seem to do a good range of connectors and fuses, and some of the staff actually know what they are talking about.

Fuse type

I believe that Honda can't get spare fuses from the US, I know that Pottsy can probably tell you more...

I might just fit a bicycle bell onto the steering wheel, just as effective!

Try to replace it with a horn from Accord executive .
I have an Accord too and it sounds excellent .
I'm thinking to order one for my Civic, too .
