brand new car sold had been accident damaged!!

I bought my Civic last year from a Honda dealer. Last week I took it to a different dealer that was closer to home for its first service. I gave them a list of problems with the car.

1) Sunblind, did not retract properly.
2) Fuel filler cap some times gets stuck
3) Clutch creaking
4) Drivers side headlamp was not flush with the bodywork, and the middle part with the H logo on the passenger side was touching the bumper, causing a little spot to appear where the paint was being rubbed off.

I picked the car up they had sorted 2 and 3 needed a part for 1 and would do it for me once they had ordered, with regard to 4 he told me he did not like to be the bearer of bad news, but the front end of my car had been accident damaged and repaid, he had got the manager from the body shop to look at my car. He also told me it would not have come from the factory looking like that. I should contact the grange that sold it me to find out what had happened to it.

I bought the car from new and I have never had any work done on the car. When he had told me this, took the car home and had a good look at the front end. On my car if I open the bonnet and look where the radiator and cooling fans are the exposed parts of metal are not body coloured unlike the rest of the car which is NHB, Is anybody able to tell me if there car is the same or if it is the same colour as the rest of the car?

Not sure what to do now, apart from contact the dealer and see what they have to say. They never said that the car had been repaid at any point when I picked it up.

Surely a case for Trading Standards. Don't forget to post on here who the dealer is...

You MUST follow this up! Tell trading standards as Aps say's and then demand the dealer supplies you a brand new car (like they should have in the first place!)

Pretty shocking. Car could potentially be unsafe although nothing to indicate this, could just be shoddy workmanship. Either way I would be having this fully looked into. Especially as you were never told about it.

There are a few of us who have had similar issues with the bumper rubbing, unless we are all driving accident damaged cars it could just be the fitting.

Wow, at last, someone here with the same problem I have, i.e.

Sunblind, did not retract properly.

My dealer keeps applying lubrication and I have to admit to telling them that it's just one of those things that will eventually sort itself out, but now I'm wondering.

Sorry to hear about your other problems and I hope you get it sorted soon.

Cheers

Took the car back to Arnold Clark Honda Stockport, from where I got the car from, they told me the only thing they did was PDI and plats, They said the car had come from HUK direct, they would contact HUK to find out if it had any work done before being delivered to the dealer. As for the HLight being out of place the manager told me someone may have bumped it in a car park (even though there is no sign of visible damage, only paint damage to the car is the ever increasing number of stone chips) As for the lack of paint in the engine bay this looks to be normal looked at a 07 Diesel in dark blue and it was missing paint in the same places. Told me they did not have a body shop at the Stockport dealership. Still waiting to hear from them.

Hi Howard

Yes I had a problem in that the rear blind worked fine but the front one got ¾ of the way open then struggled to open the rest of the way like the motor could not manage it. Told the dealer when I took it for a service, When I got the car back looks like they had lubricated the parts, but they told me that the motor that operated the front blind was weak and needed changing, Honda recommend changing both motors front and back. The dealer ordered the parts in, got them fitted a week later. All nice and smooth now!

Hope that helps.
