Electric shocks

I first experienced this on a 1989 Nissan micra, then a 2001 Civic, a 2005 FR-V and my civic.... see the pattern forming? I don't know why but i seem to get shocks from every Japanese car i've had, the european ones i've had have not tried to defibrilate me upon leaving the car, don't know why this should be?!!?

so strange... cause between me and my husband, i get all the jolts and it hardly affects him. Bummer !!!

Jazz, I think it might be to do with the amount of man made fibre in your skirt or trousers.... Does the old boy just wear jeans by any chance? You can test this theory by getting in and out of the car whilst naked. I shall give this a go and report back.

I am aware that wearing polyester clothing can increase the chance of being zapped. For those who are prone to get zapped due to clothing, you can get anti static spray to help reduce static electricity on clothes and fabric.

Pottsy - Do let us know the outcome of your theory

I get the same thing too, not all the time but very often. Get a belt off the car on closing the door getting out - not good to be fully loaded with static when you're a PC technician!!!

Yes I used to get frequent belts off the frame, etc. Had the same thing with a previous car - might have been a Primera. Quickly learnt to touch the door and put my foot on the ground before getting out of the seat. I'd forgotten that I used to do that until quite recently, so I'm now doing the same with the Civic and no shocks. The other solution is to get soembody else to open the door for you...

Might be a Honda thing, not just the Civic, the Accord loaner i have has given me a belt quite a few times, it has stopped now, well when I say stopped, I let the Wife get out first.
