Squeaks and rattles and other minor problems

I've had my car for 3 weeks now, and have noticed the following:

-A very irritating small sqeak from the roof just above drivers head. Squeak is not quite the right word. Sounds like when you put your finger on a piece of scotch tape and lift it of. I do not seem to have issues with the windscreen discussed here: Roof liner squeek solved

-Suspension: Not sure I would call it a loud knocking sound as discussed in other thereads. On smooth speed bumps, the suspension is great, but on sharper ones, perhaps with tile edges, and on potholes, I think the suspension is quite noisy, front and back, especially the back. Should I get them replaced, or is this because the car is sporty and stiff?

-Rattle from the back. This seems to be intermittent, perhaps weather dependant? Get some pretty loud rattles when going over sharp bumps and holes. Have no idea where it could be coming from.

-Drivers side door handle. I have to press it quite hard to open the door. Passenger side is much more smooth.

I have had several problems with the trim including the creaking roof lining problem on my Sept 96 Civic ES.

My local Dealer had three attempts before the roof lining problem was solved. Finally they removed the whole lining and refitted it with new clips and packing.

Other problems I have had are the small lining piece on the inside of the rear door on the opposite side to the flush door handle dropping off, plastic piece on outside of passenger door handle coming loose, fuel cap not opening, and a battery failure.

Welcome Sir Kit Breaker. I presume you mean 06 -- not 96.

Congratulations on getting your various probs sorted

Encouraged by your result with the headlining,I'll get mine down to the dealer to sort out the headlining squeak, and the front passenger door handle, the operation of which feels rough compared to the driver's side

Hi Guys, this is my first post on this site although I have been reading your comments etc for some time. I had one of the early Civics-Jan 06 (1.8 ES) and have had most of the problems discussed here. 18 months on I finally have a petrol cap which opens! But I am left with a few things which the dealer seems unable to rectify. The main one is that when I go on Holiday and leave the car standing idle for 1 week I have to get the AA out because the battery is flat when I return. Dealer says I dont do enough miles to keep it charged (12000 in 18 months). I have a 'squelch' from the front when going over speed cushions (worse in wet weather) and a rattle from the back passenger side on uneven road/potholes. Sounds like a loose wheel, hope it isnt! Shocks have all been changed, dampers checked. Any good ideas out there?

Welcome!

See the flat battery thread (it covers more than just diesels), there may be a solution now.
2.2 CDTi EX - recurring flat battery

I too have roof lining problem - it's either coming from the sun visor or the roof handle on the drivers side - can't work it out!

I hope they'll fix it under warranty.

Also getting an intermittent buzz from passenger side speaker.
