Angry leaking shock absorber

I found some spots on my drive in the different places I park it, had a look under the car and low and behold the passenger side rear shock absorber was leaking

I took it into the dealer who swapped out the shock absorber, but only the one on the passenger side does any one know if both sides should be done at the same time?

Guess which one was leaking

It's less critical on rear shocks, but get more important with mileage. How many miles have you done?

Really they should always be replaced in pairs. However, if one had done only 10 miles, there would be no need. I found that when I had only one front one changed after 25,000 miles I could really feel the difference (between left handers and right handers). I suspect that at 10,000 miles it would be difficult to tell there was something up at the rear - but the acid test is that if the car feels odd round corners one way and not the other, then the opposite damper should be changed.

Thanks Pottsy

Will drive round a few bends to make sure it feels the same.
