Recall and a creak

Guys,

I've been issued with a recall letter that advises me to go and get the wiring harness checked as it could be a fire risk.

No problem with that but I also have another problem that I'd like to know more about / whether it is common before I take it is as I'll mention it as well!

Basically when the car has sat for a long period of time, say over night, when I pull off the drive I get a lot of creaking from the rear of the car. I suspect this can only be the suspension. It's usually worse if the car has been left on the drive and not garaged overnight.

Is this a common thing that others have had and if so is it something that needs to be sorted? I obviously rather it didn't make the noise but I'd imagine the garage might try the old 'they all do that, it's normal' line.

Thanks for any advice in advance

Oh btw, car is a '59 plate with 5k on the clock.

I've had this creaking from the rear of the car, I think it's just the handbrake and the pads being released nothing to worry about.

One or two things on the back the well known rear suspension & also the exhaust hangers are prone to making the creaking noise too ? The wiring harness if it's not under the engine mount it's ok ? The basically just lift up bonnet & to see if it's secure away from the engine mount took them literally 60 seconds to check mine when I had it in for mot & service for the creaking there is a few how to to cure the noise but if yours is still under warranty let them sort it as they know about it long winded I do babble but hope that helps

Definitely not the pads / discs as it does not happen when it first moves off, only when the angle of the car changes with the drive / road level change

Thanks! will just mention it when I take it in then.

If it's the harness next to the mount on the left as you look at the car then it's not trapped

I'll still take it in before the last service though as that will be the end of the warranty.

i had the creaking noise when first moving off and turning corners for first 5 min or so. handbrake would only make a noise first time you move if the pads were stuck on a bit, like mine does after being sitting for 7 weeks while im at work. it must be the exhaust or the suspension settling, after i got my mods which included exhaust and suspension done it doesnt do it anymore. nothing to worry about imo.

The creaking noise is the suspension, my cars has always done this from new, its worse when the weather is really cold outside. The noise disappears after a couple of minutes or so, I won't even bother getting the dealer to check it as its just one of those things, lets call it a feature.

Don't know if you've got an warranty left but IIRC you can get the rear dampers changed if they are creaking when setting off.

Guys, thanks for you help so far with this!

Since the weather has been nice I've also noticed that I have a loud metallic clicking noise that I have since read on here is a common issue as well! Seems to be a few things annoying on a car with only 5k on the clock!!

Anyway, to the point! I'm looking to get the car booked in to have the recall check and to check out the click and creak noises that I seem to have! Does anyone recommend a particular (friendly) Honda garage in the Washington area? Ones near that spring to mind are the one on Scotswood Road and one on Wessington Way.

Thanks again!
