oops look what I did

Today my road was closed in my village due to resurfacing you know the sort where they just chuck stones down and let the public bed it in messing up there paint jobs .I had to take a 3 mile diversion just to get to my house .I caught my front splitter on a grass verge trying to get the through the small gap the council left me to get past there cones and diversion sign which then ripped off my wheel arch trim .And to top it off my car is coverd in stone chips .Im gutted .I have complained to the council I just hope they admit liability otherwise I will have to pay £500 excess and loose my no claimes bonus .

I think the council should at least pay for the stone chips... The more people that claim when the do this new lazy cost cutting way of resurfacing, the my stop doing it! It's also very dangerous... I've seen cars skid on bends even at the reduced 20mph limit.

I guess like most things in the uk, they get away with because most people won't complain or claim

I agree with you ,I pay alot of money in rfl to run my ctr and I have to put up with this rubbish.I think they have had several complaints as I live in a very nice village with lots of fancy cars .The goverment dont spend the money on the roads they spend it in other countries fighting wars that have nothing to do with us and were funding it !

Gutted for you mate

Lots of the "chuck stones on the road" resurfacing where I am too at the moment. Worst thing is the new surface is noisy as hell and almost as crap as the one it replaced anyway.

My heart sinks whenever I encounter the 20mph signs because by then you know it's too late to do anything but plough through it listening to the chinks as your paint is slowly chipped off

Why don't you just pay for the repairs without going through insurance?

Absolutely gutted for you mate, I did this with my old type s in a very small multi story... The repair (+painting) cost me £200 so it wasn't terrible but still so annoying that my car was injured

+1

I can't imagine you've done more than £500 worth of damage there.

+2, you'll lose No claims & your next year's premium will be even higher as it will be classified as "your fault"!

Im sure a good smart repair company will put that right mate for a couple of hundred quid. Dont normally like the smart repair route but can sometimes do the job and save an insurance claim.

Did you not think to move the cones instead of squeezing through?
