Honda Recalls

I Went In To My Local Honda Garage To Prebook The First Service ,only To Find That There Was A Recall On The Car For The Fuel Cap,my Car Is Leased From Arnold Clark ,but They Did Not Inform Me ,this Is Very Poor From Arnold Clark As It Could Have Been A Serious Recall And I Was Not Informed

There is a differance between "Recall" as in inform everyone to come in as soon as possible and "Recall" as in modify the car when it comes in for service.

Most "recalls" on all cars are of the latter type to save on cost and bad-will.

Only real saftey issues will be of the first type.

Normal practise in any tech-business.

Mr Clark..!

Yea I don't have much faith in A.Clark...! I picked mine up last Friday 31st and the screen strip along the top's come away already. You jist need to look at the Anti A.Clark website which should put the frightners up you..

They never mentioned if the re-calls had been done and it's got only 8k miles on the clock. They said it was serviced the day before I got it but I checked the oil yesterday and it's pritty black already... Hmm..

My service book was stamped but hehaw else filled out or ticked no service sheets so it makes you wonder if they just gave it a wash..?? The fuel cap opens ok but not got much of a spring in it when it pops open. I think I'll enquire about the mod spring jist incase...
Apart from that I'm delighted with my new toy..

Good luck with yours..

Cheers, Al

Al - the fuel cap mod is dead easy to spot

Open the cap, and look at where the clip goes into the filler hole (ie opposite side from the hinge)

If there is a spring there (not a coiled spring, more like half a bulldog clip), then the mod has been done.

If there is nothing there, it hasn't.

Back on original topic tho - yes, the fuel cap mod 'recall' is only classed as a 'do this when car is in for next service'.
Arnold Clark, as the leasing company, are unlikely to have been informed themselves...

Any safety recalls would come to you direct from either Honda or the DVLA if I remember correctly, and would advise you to take your car in as soon as possible.
Or to stop driving it (in extreme cases)

As far as I can gleen from these fair pages, the things they are likely to check for on service are:

Fuel filler spring mod
Door bungs removal
Under body delivery drainage protection clips removal

any more?

Recalls...

Thanks TTDegs, checked mine today when I went to fill her up. I pulled the lever below the steering column and went around to fill her up and noticed the bloody thing wasn't open hmm thought I was loosing it..!

Went back round and pulled it again (the lever I mean) and gave it one more for good measure then went back round and it was open...

Opened her up and no clip so I thinks I'll be telling these *e#*ers when it goes in on Wednesday for the strip along the windscreen replacement to get the clip fitted pronto...

All in all still pleased with ma new toy...

Alabaster 2.2 i-CDTI Sport- ultra white led side lights, blue interior lights and civi sticker..fogs on order..

I think most of these recalls relate to older cars ie 55,06 plate cars

I will be surprised if our car (07 plate)is due for any of these

My '07 plate does not have the fuel filler mod (and hasn't had its first service yet), but the flap has never failed to open on the first pull (where did I leave that piece of wood???).
