New Paint Problem
A week or so after picking up the car I found a paint chip on the boot lip edge just above the rear parking sensors. Thinking that I may have been the culprit I looked at the chip through my times 10 mag glass and it looked rather odd around the edges.Anyway I touched it in with the matching Galaxy Grey and from then on have been extremely careful and vigilant.
On return from a trip to Basingstoke today, lo and behold an identical chip had appeared about 10 cm from the original. Out with the times 10 and one can see that around the chip edge the paint is lifting or sort of feathery. Can almost be seen on the C P pic. I will be taking it back tomorrow for the dealer to comment as it seems to be poor paint adhesion to the plastic bumper. Will keep the Forum posted. Anyone had this happen yet ? |

First I've seen of it Ramsay, thats the problem with painting plastic, there's always this danger unless the pleastic is properly prepared for the paint.

Chip update
My Dealer checked out the paint chips today and they haven't seen any other similiar problems but did agree it was was not stone damage. So it is now logged into the system just in case it develops into a real problem in the future. Out with the touch up paint and a camel hair brush.

Ramsey - Glad you got this loggged - about 3 years ago Ford had a major problem with the primer they used on plastic panels which had a knock on effect into the after market crash damage repairers. The panels came pre-primed but the paint just would not stick to it. I hope Honda don't have the same problems.
