Fuel Filler cap ... again ?

Hello,

This morning the postman ring at my door with a letter from Honda for me... New recall for my civic about the fuel filler cap.
I'm very surprised because during the first service my dealer had done the "Spring mod".

Is someone else aware of another problem ?

Have a nice day

you need to ring your dealer ,i think that letter is a mistake bet they havent updated their system. The spring is the only mod for the fuel cap

When I was in for the front suspension replacing the dealers techy did say there was a further mod to some cars, not all, but it was another spring.

Gordon Bennett,
What are Honda planning for the next mod, - a suspension spring off a steam train.
About time they made the fuel cap of metal.

Last week got a call from local dealer (Stratstone) saying that they would like to check on my filler cap and front part of the roof (rust). I told them that when I got the car the filler cap didn't work and had been replaced. They said that they would collect it and return it by the afternoon. Got a call later in the day saying that my offside front tyre was badly worn (I had noticed that it was pulling to the side but thought that it was due to large tyres and the road camber as was mentioned on Civinfo a while ago. The outcome - One new Michelin £167, wheel alignment £49.95 and a fuel cap that clicks when I pull the lever plus a "Honda Happiness Health Check" I think that they have tweeked somthing to do with the springing as it is a better ride. Is this the norm?

Im not having mine done again, its been done twice and works perfectly well. Surely if we are not having problems now it should be left well alone.

I imagine this is just an error, likely the mod was already carried out.

I have a 2007 model.
Am I right in assuming that it should not need any of these recalls????

Well I just checked the online recall thingy and it said there was some
work outstanding on our March 2007 '07' Civic - could be the door bungs
only thing I can think of - haven't contacted the dealer yet but will
do it soon we have never had any problems with the fuel cap etc

Mine was moded, and is now sticking again!!! 2o miles of fuel left and it took 5 minutes of pulling and banging at the garage before the fuel cap opened !!!!

So don't be surprised if it is another fix!

Same thing happened to me over the weekend. I managed to get it open. When I looked at the clip I just bent it ever so slightly towards the rear of the car and guess what...it works better than ever.

Would this be the MOD that everyone gets when they take there car back.

When I had the problem a while back I took the car in and it was in the workshop for no longer than 2mins. You do the maths

The majority of problems I had with the filler cap was during the colder months at the start og this year, I will be interested to see how it fares this year with the mod done.

Had mine in today for replace my front fog and the service guy mentioned the fuel cap recall. Told him I't had been done and he look and said yes it has! My guess is it's turn from a 'My Fuel cap wont open!! Please fix it' into a racal for all cars and as such even if you have had the fix it's not going tick the recall box on the system as it came after

But he did confirm there was nothing new

I've called both Honda south Europe and my dealer about this recall.

In fact they have two recall campaign at the moment. One for the windscreen joint and the other one for the fuel filler cap.
It's another mod in fact (change of the entire cap...)
At the beginning it was planned to be done (both repair) during normal services but because of the time it would have needed to modify all the cars sold already they have issued this recall (?)

From the chief engineer nothing worrying and it could be made later ... Will see I will keep you informed !

Mine had nothing done to the cap or the spring today - not that it needed to, as its working fine with the spring mod from 6 months ago

Same with my March 2007 car. There is no spring mod fitted to the fuel filler but so far it has always worked OK. Anyone know when or if it was modified in production?
