Angry Windscreen squeaking

Afternoon all, just back from honeymoon and back on the case of my squeaky windscreen, which seems to be getting worse by the week.

Had a quick search around but on lunch so in a rush, sorry if this has been gone over before.....

My windscreen is squeaking more and more each week, obviously mainly over a bumpy surface, but it seems like its moving along the bottom edge.

Was there a recall involving the windscreen? Anyone else had this problem and got it sorted? I'm going back with it soon if so.....actually, i'll go back whatever!

Cheers guys
Ian

Don't think there's a recall. Most likely to be rubbing the rubber seals, possibly top and bottom. Imagine the windscreen may have to be replaced.

I get this too on mine - waiting till the next service is due (January) and I'll ask the dealer to look at it then....

It gets better and worse - at the moment its really quite bad

Just sounds like a rubbing / scratching noise on the windscreen whenever the car goes over a bump etc...

very annoying!

Your dealer should check for a defective windscreen seal during the next service (if they haven't already done so). It's a well known problem, both here and at Honda dealers.

I had something similar just out of the blue - on mine it seemed to be the plastic trim on the outside of the windscreen, by the wipers rubbing against the glass. Put some wd40 round it and it now seems to have gone. I put it down to the dry weather for the past few weeks drying it out and causing frcition.

Yes, I also had trouble with the scuttle trim. Try pressing it where it meets the glass and see if it sounds the same. Mine was completely cured by using small rubber spacers to lift it off the glass by say 1-2mm.

pcr,
do you mean we should check the plastic at the wipers as that part is moving ont the windscreen and that's generating the noise?
wher should we put the rubber bits exactly?
(sorry my english is not perfect and was not clear what you mean)
thx!

I've called Honda South Europe this Morning about the recall for my fuel filler cap. The lady at the phone told me that "there is two recall campaign at the moment about the Civic" One is for the Fuel filler cap and the second one is about your problem. they have to change the windscreen screen.
I've also called my dealer and I've spoken about that with the chief mechanist. He told me that they have had first instruction to do the seal and the fuel filler cap during the normal services, but because of the number of complain Honda recall the Civic about these two points.
I hope the job is correctly done this time !

PTR,
The plastic grill right across the bottom of the windscreen. Press it and see if you hear the noise. If you do, use some temporary spacers (ie. cardboard) to raise the plastic off the glass and see if that helps.

first of all thx!
I have pressed it nothing but when I've tried to move it the dirt between the palstic and glass was giving a noise. so I don't know. somehow I have the feeling that this solution would be too easy but i will give it a go.
I will clean it then I will add some rubber bits (pads) between the plastic and glass. I hope it will work!
I will add comments afterwards!

I think I have the same problem, which I can "cure" by putting my finger between the windscreen and the headlining just to the right of the rear-view mirror and pulling down slightly.

Must speak to dealer.

OK I have added the rubber bits between plastic and windscreen a while agao. So now I've tested it for really a long time and it seems to be fine, can confirm it! Thx a lot pcr for the idea!
