Question Radio

I was looking on YouTube and found this video with regards the radio.
I am waiting for the car to go into dealer to see that they can do with the radio, but this video shows a number on the side screen when selecting a station. Is it signal strenght? How do you get into the mode....?
YouTube - 2006 Honda Civic Radio Test

I want to see what the level is like while the radio crackles and the sound stops while it retunes.....

My car is going for it's first service next week, RDS is one of the things to be looked at......again!
Last time it went in I was told that the RDS was turned off, so they turned it on. According to the manual the RDS is on when the radio is turned on, and it doesn't say how it can be turned off!

I have also noticed that, but RDS on the audio screen doesn't have the black filled box around it like the TP, FM1 and Stereo??

Radio Diag tried....

I tested it with the engine off. A good signal with a reading of 60db (radio 2). I started the car and the hissing started..... Signal about 51db then settled back to about 59-60.

Driving home with Radio 2 tuned to 89.8FM, I got upto 71db and the sound quality was good. The radio then started to have a little issue with the signal dropping down around 39-45db but no problems with the sound quality?? Then it retuned to 89.5FM so RDS seems to be doing its job.
Over the trip home (about 40 minutes and 25 ish miles) the signal was between 31 and 71db. It seemed strange to me that the RDS returned again at about 55db to 89.1FM and then only had a max of 60db before retuning again to 89.5FM. This had varying db levels but the TP seemd to have issues at high ish numbers 55-60db and some hissng/fuzz?
Not sure what any of this shows......? Maybe its the 89.5FM frequency that has the problem?

Has anyone tried this? If so what type of levels are you getting?
I will try this again going to work, as I normal get a poor signal in the morning....

Last night we went out in the wife's car (corsa) and did the same section of road, the radio was fine.

Tried this Diag again this morning in the Civic, as this is when I get a very poor reception.
(Outside temp 14C car still set to 21C, rear heater off and Auto Lights on)
Radio still tuned to Radio 2 and 89.5FM signal at 65db at home on the drive.
Started driving and within 5 minutes the signal was up and down between 46 and 68db. I was hoping it would be lower with the poor sound qulity, but it wasn't. In fact the STEREO flashed at about 55db and sound quilty was poor. This seems strange to me as 55 is a highish reading.......? The RDS did it's bit as I moved from one frequency to another, but this morning had issues with all three bands (89.5, 89.1 and 89.8FM) at one point changing between all three within 10 seconds.
This all seems very odd. These highish readings in the afternoon are fine, but in the morning gives poor sound? Is something else upsetting the radio in the morning? I thought it was the rear heater, but the dew didn't clear so it wasn't on. Is it something to do with the HID lights?
I have the questions, but not many answers. Maybe Honda and the makers of the stereo are the only people that could solve this issue. BUT I wish they would hurry up
